— Very original MK. 1. 1966 MGB. Last of the Mk 1. Models, so it has the original 4 speed, non syncho gearbox, which allows for a bigger and more comfortable foot well. Plus being a late model in 1966, itis fitted with the original standard 5 bearing motor, not the three-bearing motor of ear vehicles. So, you get the best of both worlds, more room and better reliability in an original Mk. 2, In 2011, | purchased it from the original owner. The vehicle had been unused since 1985 and brought to Australia in 2005 as part of family moving from Canada to Australia. Never registered nor driven in Australia by original owner. | bought it will all the import papers approved, and vehicle is now fully registered in South Australian (first registered in Australia by me in 20213 in South Australia). As | purchased the vehicle in QLD and it had been sitting for some time (10 years), to enable driving it back from QLD to SA on a permit in 2011, | had the following changed (Note 36,000 original Miles on speedo — vehicle was named Laurence on this trip back to Adelaide): © Anew tyres © 4new wheel cylinders ‘+ New Brake Master cylinder ‘© New Clutch Master cylinder New clutch slave cylinder ‘New coolant hoses all replaced © New coolant © New fan belt © New gearbox oil * New diff oil © Fullservice © New battery During 2011/13 | then converted Laurence to Right Hand Drive and registered it in Australia. Items required: © Reconditioned steering rack — Right Hand drive Refurbished dash (original crackle finish) ‘©All new brake rubber lines ©All new fuel rubber lines ‘¢ New windscreen wiper assembly and right-hand drive motor © New headlights (right hand drive angle) © Rewire existing wiring loom to right hand drive © Independent Engineers report on right hand drive conversion * South Australian Government vehicle inspection and report (conversion and import approval, plus vehicle condition report required) ‘* Tonneou cover converted to right hand drive Repairs and modifications for Laurence over last 8 years of ownership: © Converted from positive to negative earth ‘® Rear suspension bushes replaced with Nolathane bushes ‘© New generator (not rebuild - new) ‘© New regulator (not rebuilt new) © New water pump Scanned with CamScanner New Heater tap assembly New exhaust system (all bar headers) Fuel tank removed and professionally cleaned Fuel filter put in line Carburettors removed and cleaned New air cleaners Oil filter assembly changed to MOSS Motors Spin on oil filter Distributor replaced with new Petronix Hall affect distributor (note- whole distributor and not just hall affect insert) ‘* Engine Oil and filter and service done each year (including brake & clutch fluids) © Gearbox and diff oils changed in 2018 Repairs since 2019 * Speedo reconditioned and calibrated ‘+ Tacho reconditioned and calibrated © New complete tail shaft * Radiator reconditioned ‘* Complete new cooling system hoses © New tyres x4 ‘* Windshield sealing rubber (windscreen out and reseal $1000 job) Carbs balanced Ignition timing set Brakes and hand break adjusted New battery Due to predominantly being interstate with work, Laurence has been driven very itt years. He gets out every month, but not nearly enough to justify our friendship. He now has 43,200 miles on him. About 7,000 Miles in my ten years of ownership. However, he has been kept in excellent condition the whole time I have owned him. He starts first time every time and never ‘complains about not being used. No hesitation in taking Laurence interstate or on extended road trips. He also comes with the original soft top roof in the back seat and boot. All in all, | am very sad to see him go, but itis time for Laurence to make new friends and get out more often. It has been a pure pleasure having him in our family for the past, almost 10 years. the past S PS: Ihave put workshop manuals, owner's manuals (original), and a heap of old magazines & books (MGB reviews all collected over time}, into the passenger footwell in a box.
