ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
Teacher focus on food words students already know. Students
asked which of those foods they like.
LESSON DELIVERY Warm Up ( SB page 55)
1. Students show pictures/flashcards of food and asked
different questions.
2. Students reminded of food categories. Teacher draws a
table on the board and students encouraged to suggest
words to go under each category. Students invited to copy
the table in their notebooks.
3. Teacher sticks the flashcards of the new vocabulary on the
board. Teacher points to each one, say the word a few
times and students asked to repeat. Teacher introduces
the new vocabulary by bringing real food to class. Students
invited to write the new foods in the table.
Vocabulary (SB page 55)
1. Students open their books to page 55. Students direct
attention to the vocabulary section. The CD plays a few
times and students point to the foods and repeat. Teacher
says the words again in random order and students repeat
and point.
Activity 1 (SB page 55)
1. Students asked what they see in the picture.
2. Students are going to listen to a song. They asked to guess
what it’s going to be about. The song plays once and
students listen and match each line that mentions food to
the correct picture. The song plays again and students
check their answers. Students invited to sing the song.
Optional (SB page 55)
1. Students asked to draw three their favourite foods on a
piece of paper. Students walk around the class, look at
each other’s drawings and talk about them. Teacher
demonstrate this by going up to a student, showing
him/her your drawing and saying I like chocolate.
2. Students encouraged to answer Yes, I do and show his/her
drawing and say what s/he likes.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON TPR (SB page 55)
1. Teacher hands out the photocopies of the flashcards with
food, so that each student has a copy. Students asked to
stand at their desks. Teacher explained that they are going
to listen to a song and that they’ll sing along. Students
asked to rub their stomachs as they sing the verse I’m
hungry. Oh, I’m hungry and they raise their flashcards as
they hear the food they have. The song plays and students
do the action and raise their flashcards as they sing along.
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students asked to read the words of the song. They asked
to find and underline with a colour pencil There’s and, in a
different color, there are.
2. Students asked to tell you some example sentences from
the song using There is/are and write them on the board.
Using the food realia (real food), ask questions like How
many carrots are there? How many sugars? to show that
words like sugar are uncountable. Teacher elicits
examples of each from the song.
Grammar Box ( SB page 55)
1. Teacher draws outline of an open fridge on the board.
Teacher sticks the flashcards of the food on the shelves of
the fridge. Teacher makes sure to stick more than one
flashcard of a certain food in the fridge. Teacher point to
the lettuce for example and say There’s some lettuce.
Students repeat this with another food. Teacher write the
sentences on the board. Students reminded that we use
there is to show something exists in a place and there are
to show that many thins exists in a place.
2. Students draws attention to the word some and explained
that we use it in the affirmative with plural countable
nouns or uncountable nouns. Students direct attention to
the grammar box. Students read the sentences out loud.
Teacher point out that Theirs is the short form of There is.
POST LESSON Students return to the table/mind map from last lesson. Students
asked to find examples of different nouns on it.

LESSON DELIVERY Warm Up ( SB page 56)
1. Students stick the flashcards of omelet, peas, pancake,
pineapple, peppers and coconuts on the board. Teacher
points to each one, say the word and students encouraged
to repeat
Vocabulary (SB page 56)
1. Students point out the food in the vocabulary section. The
CD plays a few times and students point to the food and
repeat. Teacher says the words again in random order and
students repeat and point.
Activity 1 (SB page 56)
1. Students direct attention to the first fame of the story and
asked What is Greg’s dad doing? Teacher points to the 3 rd
frame and asked What are Anna and Greg eating? Teacher
points to the last frame and asked What has Greg’s dad
got?
2. Students asked what they think is happening. Student
asked to point to the appropriate bubbles and follow along
as the CD plays.
3. The Cd plays again and students encourage to shadow
read. The Cd plays once more and pause after each phrase
for students to repeat. Students asked comprehension
questions. 3 students chose to act it out for the class,
assigning roles to each student. Then students act out the
story in groups of 3. One or more groups students
perform in front of the whole class.
Activity 2 (SB page 57)
1. Students read the story again and write A for the Anna and
G for Greg in the boxes under the ingredients that are in
each of their omelets. Students compare their answers in
pairs first, then check as a class.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students asked what the children’s dad was doing in the story –
he was cooking omelettes. Students asked if they have cooked a
dish at home before. Teacher talk to them about cooking to find out
what they know. Students introduced cooking verbs using
flashcards or mime: break, cut up, mix, fry, stir, serve. Write and
leave the words on the board.
2. Students a mime game using the verbs + some of the foods from
Lesson 83.
3. Students work in groups of five. Students receive the cut-up
stages of the omelette recipe, one stage each. They should read
their stage and together decide which order to stand in.
4. Students brainstorm together some ingredients for a Malaysian
dish that all pupils know. Teacher prepare some key words in
advance, such as coconut milk, onion, eggs, tomato, potato ,
chicken, spices, rice etc. Explain that these are the ingredients.
5. Students will write a recipe for a dish. Teacher hands out the
gapped recipe and let students work in pairs to complete it.

1. Teacher point to the grammar box and students read it
aloud. Students explained that we use any in questions

form or uncountable nouns. Teacher wrote a few more
examples on the board and students repeat.

1. Students listen to 6 conversations and tick the correct box
according to whether the ingredients depicted are in the
food mentioned or not.
2. Teacher plays the CD, pausing after each exchange.
3. Teacher plays the Cd again for students to check their

1. Students direct attention to Sue and Alex in the picture
and asked what’s happening. The CD plays and students
chorally repeat the exchange. Students model the
exchange individually.
2. Students divided into pairs. Students explained that first
they are going to check what ingredients they wants in
their omelet, individually. Teacher point out that two
spaces are there for students to fill in with two ingredients
of their preference.
3. Students are going to take turns asking their partners
what ingredients they’ve chosen for their omelets.
4. Pairs of students present the exchange to the rest of the
class.
5. Students draw their omelettes in their notebooks.
6. Using their drawings, students mingle to find out if
another student(s) has the same omelette as theirs. They
should ask and answer questions to find this out, e.g. Are
there any tomatoes in your omelette? If they find a
partner, they should sit together. For those who do not,
they should try to find someone with a similar omelette
and sit together.
7. For feedback, teacher pre-teach ‘same’ and ‘similar’ and
help pupils to to say We have the same omelette. There
are/is… on my omelette, and on her omelette too. // We
have similar omelettes. There are/is… on my omelette,
and on her omelette too / There is/are xxx on my
omelette, but there isn’t/aren’t any… on hers.
POST LESSON Students asked to tell which omelettes they’d try and which they
wouldn’t. Review the word Yummy.

LESSON DELIVERY Warm Up (SB page 58)
1. Teacher sticks the flashcards of yoghurt, jam, noodles,
soup, cheeseburger and crepe on the board. Tecaher
points to each one, say the word and students encourage
to repeat.
Vocabulary(SB page 58)
1. Tecaher points out the food in the vocabulary section. The
CD plays a few times and students point to the food and
repeat.
2. Students say the food again in random order
3. Teacher shows the pictures from Student’s Book p.58 and
elicit some details about them. Students asked about the
kinds of food, where it might be from.
4. Students work in groups of four. Each group has a set of
texts plus pictures. They should read the texts and match
them to the pictures.
5. The texts divided between the pupils in the group.
Students asked to highlight/underline the name of the
food in one colour, the ingredients in another colour and
the country in another.
6. All pupils with the same texts check their answers
together before returning to their groups.
7. Teacher draw a basic mind map on the board with
sections for country/ingredients/food. Students asked to
work together to write vocabulary from the texts into the
mind map they have copied into their notebooks.
Activity 2 ( SB page 59)
1. Students directs attention to the food, point to each one
and students encourage to name them. Students will have
to read activity 1 again to write food’s country of origin.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON Task 1: Work Out the Words
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students asked what they remember about the dishes from
different countries. Groups quickly present one of the dishes as a
review for the whole class.
2. Students brainstorm some different dishes from around the
world and use the pictures to introduce the dishes on the
worksheet. Note that these are suggestions, which can be changed
to suit your class.
3. Students asked to do the matching activity (worksheet part A) in
pairs.
4. In small groups, students choose one dish. They should check
online to find out what the ingredients are.
5. As a plan for writing, students complete the first sections of the
worksheet part B. Then they should write about a dish. They can
use the texts in the textbook (Student’s Book, p.58) as models or
teacher could write a model on the board.
POST LESSON Some groups present their texts and/or display them in the
classroom. Students asked which dishes sound yummy.

ACTIVITIES PRE-LESSON 1. Teacher put food vocabulary flashcards on the board in this
order
i. Line 1: sugar
ii. Line 2: peas and pineapple
iii. Line 3: coconuts and chocolate biscuits

v. Line 5: cheese
2. Teacher point to the cards and students asked to say vocabulary
items.
LESSON DELIVERY 1. Students was told that they are on a steam train which is
carrying the food. Say that their train starts slowly, gets faster, and
finally gives a whistle.
2. Students asked to stand up. Teacher moves arms slowly then
gradually faster, to imitate the rhythm of the train, and students
asked to copy. Teacher finish with the noise of the whistle.
3. Teacher say the Food train chant to this rhythm, using the
flashcards to help students remember the words if necessary.
4. Teacher practice two or three times until students can say the
chant confidently.
5. Students divided into groups of 3–4. Students asked to practise
the chant.

food they are eating. Students will have to circle the
correct food according to what they hear.
3. Teacher plays the Cd and pause after each conversation so
that students have enough time to circle the correct
picture. The CD plays again and students check their
answers.

1. Students divided into groups of five. Teacher hands out a
sheet of plain paper to each groups of students. Teacher
sticks the flashcards of the foods and drinks learnt in this
module on the board. Students give a couple of minutes to
look at the flashcards and try to remember the food.
Students has 3 minutes to write down as many words as
they can remember. When the students have finished their
lists, they count up the number of words. The groups with
the most words written wins.

1. Students open their books to page 60. Students direct to
the vocabulary section and point out the food and drinks.
The CD plays a few times and students point to the
pictures and repeat. Teacher say the food and drinks again
in random order and students repeat and point.

1. Students direct attention to the grammar box and point
out the questions and answers. Students explained that we
use these phrases to take an order and to respond.
Activity 1 (SB page 60)
1. Students asked to look at the pictures of Sue, tony and
Lucy and asked what they this is happening. Students
asked to follow along in their books as the CD plays. The
CD plays again and pause after each phrase for students to
repeat.
2. Students use the picture on page 129. Students divided
into groups of 3.Students explained that they are going to
take turns being the customers and the waiter, and role-
play a restaurant scene. Students was told to pretending to
be waiter to use their notebooks or a piece of paper and a
pencil while taking down the order from customers and
students pretend to be customers to choose items from
page 129. Some group of students role play the scene in
front of class.

LESSON DELIVERY 1. Teacher mixes up and hand out question and answer strips to
students, one each. Students asked to mingle (walk around talking
to different students) to find a partner to match the question +
answer.
2. Teacher write the questions on the board or show a large copy of
them all. Teacher asks questions to help students see the
relationship between the form of the questions and the answers
(e.g. use of do/there + be / the repetition of the verbs, including
contracted form of would). Teacher carefully explain the
contraction form of would to ensure students understand how I’d
is constructed.
3. Students model the worksheet activity on the board using an
example. Students asked to work individually on the worksheet
before checking their answers with a partner.
Optional- Food Survey (SB page 64)
1. Students divided into groups of four. Students are going to
carry out class survey about their favourite foods. Teacher
draw table on the board and asked students to copy it in
thei notebooks.
2. Students explained in turns, they will have to ask what
your favorite food is. And write the name of each students
in the group over his/her favourite food.
3. Once all of the groups are done, student have in each
group report the results of the survey.
4. Students answers recorder in a similar chart on the board.
5. After all groups have reported back, students invited to
interpret the results from the chart on the board.
POST LESSON 1. Students asked to think about what they have learned in
Unit 6 and how well they feel they know the language now.
They should complete the How did I do in Unit 6? Self-
assessment section of the worksheet.
2. Teacher collect the worksheets from pupils and review
them to note students’ performance. If there are any areas
of concern, prepare a review of these in upcoming lessons.
