II. Exhibition Items: Looking closely


Choose one exhibit item that interest you. Attach a photo of this item. Then answer the following questions:
a. Why did the item catch your eye?
b. Did you know anything about that item before you saw it there? If so, what?
c. Describe the piece.
d.What are your initial thoughts about the item? Do you think there is a particularly interesting story behind its
creation? Can you imagine one?
e. Is it connected to any other item in the exhibit? How?
f. What other questions do you have after seeing the item?

Take a quick walk through the entire exhibition. Look for the main ideas and most important features. Pay
attention to the things that the museum curators have emphasized with lighting, large texts, and prominent
placement.
a. Describe the layout of the exhibition. Why do you think it was designed that way?
b.What are the central ideas that the museum curator(s) mean to convey?

Choose 5 Museum Artifacts which you believe are the most relevant artifacts in the museum.

a. What are the Names/Labels of the 5 Artifacts you chose?


b.Where did the artifacts come from?
c. How did the artifacts arrive in the museum for exhibit? How were they taken? Who were the people involved?
d.Were those artifacts taken directly from the owner of such items? Or taken from another’s possession?
e.How did the Museum identify the authenticity of the 5 artifacts?
