Shyamal Sarkar is associated with Subham since 1997.

Under his direction several plays were staged

one after another: Abanindranath Tagore's 'Kshirer Putul', 'Katu-Kutu' (adapted from Jogindranath
Sarkar's story 'Dui Chor'), Samaresh Basu's 'Morechhe Pyalga' and 'Sparsha' which was a compilation
of several short stories. He also directed other short plays.

Shyamal Sarkar started his acting career with Natyaranga in 1990. He acted in plays like 'Ekdin
Swapne', 'Bithan' and 'Basana'. In 1999, he joined Nakshatra under the guidance of the eminent
theatre personality, Shyamal Ghosh, and performed in 'Amrita Ateet', 'Chanakya Vishnugupta'. In
2003, he joined Rangroop under Sima Mukhopadhyay. From 2004, he was an active member of
Bratya Basu's theatre group, Ganakrishti. His brilliant acting was seen in 'Sateroi July', 'Babli',
'Hemlat, the Prince of Garanhata'. In 2007, he performed in 'Palashi', a Howrah Natadha production.
His acting skills were strongly visible in Rangalok productions 'Shekal Chhenra Haater Khonje' and
'Lambakarna Pala'.

In 2012, to establish his unique identity, he set up his own group, Mahanirvan Bhavna, wherein he
acted in Nirup Mitra's 'Paonagonda', Caesar Bagchi's 'Moronre Tuhu Momo', Soumitra Basu's
'Baghbandi' and Ajitesh Bandopadhyay's 'Nana Ronger Din'.

Shyamal Sarkar is an excellent director. We feel the warmth of his love when we still perform 'Atha
Siksha Bichitra' under his parental care.
