10.Simplify

ANSWERS:

1. i. We have 128 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2
So we can say that 128 =27 .
ii. We have 343 = 7 x 7 x 7
So we can say that 343 = 73
2. 24 = 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16 and 112 = 11 x 11 = 121
3. 32 = 3 x 3 = 9 and 23 = 2 x 2 x 2 = 8.
Therefore, 32 > 23 .

4. (-5) x (−2)3 = -5 x -2 x -2 x -2 = 40.

5. i. 3 x 3 x 3 x 3 = 34

6. (−3)4 × (−3)5 = (−3)4+5 = (−3)9
