Pipe section

Pipe was selected on head issue the pipe diameter is of 120mm considering its cheap and can
be grand pressure of 60mm
The pipe diameter was selected past on a chair change velocity and total friction losses
associated with different diameter
4.6 Hydraulic calculation
The hydraulic calculation work should be done with great consideration of this section head the
elevation difference between the pump and elevated tank. The friction losses due to the nature
of pipe materials therefore the fox discharge of 1.29l/s hand velocity of 0.8l/s on main of
150mm internal diameter will be considered. A distance of 600m from the intake to storage
tank was used to calculate the total frictional losses in PVC pipe and tank elevation for
determining the frictional losses in GI pipe. Total static head is 0.4m total frictional loses for the
PVC 10.2m total head required without the consideration of water diameter 10.62
WATER HAMMER
Water hammer as a phenomenon by which serial of positive and negative pressure wave are
produced which travel back and forth in the pipe until they are dumped out by friction
NUMBER IF PIPE REQUIRED
The total number of pipe required for a distance depends on the length of individuals pipes
therefore mathematically the total of the pipe can be obtained as followed
Number of pipe required-distance of pipeline
600 length of one pipe
6
One additional of GI pipe of diameter 100mm is also required for the purpose of delivering
water to the elevated tank the area hence the total number of pipes require 100 PVC of
diameter 100mm
