 Hello! Good morning! How was your day? I know

you are motivated to learn about our new lesson today.

With this, I welcome you to this module 1 on Family Health

discussing Gender and Human Sexuality. I am expecting

that you are excited to learn today as much as I am

passionate to share everything that you need. I believe that

this day will be remarkable and full of learning experiences

that would help you more knowledgeable about Gender and

 Introduction

Lesson 1: Gender and Human Sexuality

As you grow and develop, you must know how to manage your sexual health of

which is the crucial aspect of your personality. This module will help you realize the

concept of gender and human sexuality. It will also improve your decision-making skills

which are useful in managing sexuality-related concerns.

The vital component of one’s personality is sexuality. It is the totality of one’s

attitudes toward one’s self and others. Knowledge about gender and human sexuality is

significant in enhancing the quality of one’s relationships and it is important to family

health. Hence, good decision making skill is needed in managing gender and sexuality

issues.

Lastly, education for human sexuality will let you make intelligent decisions

concerning sexual behaviors and will help you grow into a mature man or woman.

Sexuality as an Important Component of One’s Personality

Sexuality is a natural and healthy part of life. It is everything about being a male

or female. Its most important aspect is masculine or feminine identification. Sexuality

involves the name given at birth, the toys played with, the clothes worn, the friends

played with, the roles and responsibilities at home, and it provides a sense of self –

worth when sexual understanding is positive.

Dimensions of Human Sexuality

Sexuality refers to your total self.

1. Physical Self – the way you look as a man or a woman.

2. Mental Self – the way you think as a man or a woman.

3. Social Self – the way you interact with others.

4. Emotional Self – the way you feel about yourself and others.

5. Ethical Self – the way you value your relationships.
