where
• ti is the fraction of time in one segment
• P1, P2, b1, b2 get the values corresponding to the altitude
• N0, y1g, correspond to the local load being computed

Aircraft Fatigue Loads
Modelling of Aircraft Use – Manoeuvring Loads 1/2
Manoeuvring loads
highly depend on
the type of the
aircraft and must
be derived from the
planned use
Measured event
spectra of similar
aircraft may be
utilised
Evaluation of results
M x (n) = -1000 × n 2 + 107000× n - 1000 , kun -1,2 = nu- < n < nu+ = +2,7
Note! The unit time may be one flight or a set of flights representing
the aircraft use as a whole

Fatigue Analyses
Crack-Free Life – Notes 1/2
In principle, the Palmgren-Miner method is applicable for analyses of
metallic and composite structures; the problem with composites may
be the lack of reference data
To be noted is that the method does not account for the effect of
loading sequence:
• Typically, the measured fatigue life is longer when high loads are
applied first
