WHY THE WASTE?

LET’S HAVE A TASTE!


It’s time to create a sustainable meal that
produces little to no waste and will provide you
with all the nutrients you need!

WHAT IS FOOD WASTE?


The fruit and veg we see at the LETS CONSIDER
supermarket had gone through a What can we do to stop the

STEP 1: RESEARCH AND EVALUATE A WASTE CONSCIOUS MEAL


Consider how much food each student should be consuming?
What is healthy food? What does it mean to be healthy?

Find out the average calorie intake for children of


their age and create a plan that outlines meals
they would eat in a day to follow the guidelines

STEP 2: CREATE CHOSEN MEAL AT SCHOOL


In groups of three, students will create a vegetarian meal to cook and share with the
class. They will be given an assessment outline to complete and submit to teacher at the
end of the term.
They must consider;
• Where the food for the meal was purchased from?
• How the waste from the meal will be used sustainably?
• Reflection on how their cooking went and ways in which they could’ve improved

STEP 3: EVALUATION OF MEALS


Students will compete the final part to their major assessment and provide a
reflection on how they believed their group went!

STEP 4: CANTEEN MEAL


Students will anonymously vote for what their two favourite meals were.
These meals will then be presented in the canteen fortnightly for the
students to choose from.
