Vision of My Life:

Growing up I’ve always wondered what do I actually want in life. As I further age it has all
started to make sense. Two years back I read a book, an award-winning Paulo Coehlo work,
“The Alchemist”. What really inspired me was the fact that as the author narrates that each one
of us has a specific and distinct purpose in life, there is nothing in this world that cannot be
achieved. The human mind is such a delicate piece of human body that if one puts his or her faith
in one, it makes one able to move mountains and heaven to get where he wants to be.

I’ve realized that the two important things in life are money and power. Although they don’t
come hand in hand, but as Dr Fareed Fareedy says that Pakistan is a land of opportunities,
nothing is impossible to achieve. My vision in life is to do something considerate and big
enough that benefits the society on a whole, orphans and homeless kids to be more specific.
My mind is constantly pouring with ideas that how can I achieve my vision in life. I’ve thought
about giving CSS exams and excelling them by putting all the might and effort I have (IA). I
thought that to reach my vision, level of self-actualization I could join the prestigious group of
DMG or either police. All in all, both of these groups can provide me with an opportunity to at
least put in an effort making the society better, and elevating the present conditions of orphans
and homeless children. What made me choose this as a vision was the fact that a normal day I
was sitting and the shocking Child Abuse case comes up from Kasur. At that point I said to
myself that Shameel, you worry and get upset over the slightest set backs that life throws at you,
what about these innocent children who’ll have to live with the trauma with the rest of their life.
I believe that as society progresses it leaves behind its residue, residue in the from of mentally
sick people and criminals. Our judicial system not being strong enough is unable to punish these
individuals effectively, cases go on for years. If this is the case, I believe someone has to step in
and eliminate all such individuals once and for all. This act has to be an opportunity cost for a
better tomorrow for others people of the society and children. Our Pakistani Police has produced
numerous officers of outstanding capabilities, examples like Ch Asalm, Sarwar Commando and
Rao Anwar. I want to have a life of action like the very same officers whom I’ve stated above
did in Karachi Operation back in the 90s.

Another option I though about reaching my vision was to join politics. As I’ve said earlier that
human mind is so delicate that all you need is a seed to be planted. Now there’s a way that seed
can be planted. Each and every one of us is sensitive to something. What can be done it that you
envelope your idea or thought in that very same thing they are sensitive too, say it to them in a
way that would stimulate their brain. Eventually if your successful in doing that the seed you
initially planted would eventually grow over time. I believe this is the main reason why religion
flourishes in a state like Pakistan. Pakistanis are immensely sensitive to their religion this is what
our religious scholars have been doing successfully for years and have been successful in doing
so. Even the present Prime Minister Imran Khan did this. Although he wants to do good for the
country but the way he came into power by associating the corruption of Nawaz Sharif with the
future of children of the country. People being sensitive for the better future of their children
eventually gave way to Imran Khan to come into power. I believe if I’m successful in doing so,
I’ll introduce laws that enable protection for the children and women in our society. Make our
policing and internal security so robust that no women would hesitate to talk a walk on a plain
empty road during midnight.

The thing which you might be wondering about right now is that all the missions I have stated of
how I can reach my vision and level of self-actualization are power centric. I watched a season
“House of Cards” in which Kevin spacey narrates

“Power is an old stone foundation that has been standing for centuries, whereas the foundation
that is composed of money cripples down in a decade or two”

I believe it’ll also be honest to be straightforward and tell another part of vision. As professor
Fareed Fareedy told us in class that expeditions to the moon would be possible in a decade or so.
So, I also want to take my wife to the moon.
