Dear parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the new school year! My name is Karla Martinez, and I am beyond excited

to be part of the 7th grade Math department at XXX Middle School. I am looking forward to

working with you as a team to help your student have a successful school year. I am looking

forward to getting to know your child as we get through the school year, in the meantime, I’ll

share a little bit about me.

I am a recent graduate from the University of Houston. I was born in Mexico but raised in

Houston, since the age of 8. I have a dog, he is a Husky and his name is Duke. I enjoy making

different crafts, like seasonal wreaths, and other DIYs. I am a First Generation graduate, who

believes that everyone deserves an education and that those that really want too can get a

higher-level education. Teaching has always been my passion and one of my main goals this year

it is to be able to create relationships with my students. I want to create a learning environment

where my students feel safe and comfortable. I want my students to know that Math is a tool that

they will use for the rest of their lives and I want them to enjoy Math, so when they think about

Math they think about it in a positive way.

While this is only a brief introduction, I hope that you and your child feel welcome to my

class. Keeping open communication with you is one of my priorities. Please do not hesitate to
