HOW TO MAKE STEWED CINNAMON APPLES
- STEP BY STEP

Peel and dice apples into fairly uniform pieces.

Place a small saucepan or skillet on low heat, and add water, apples,
cinnamon and maple syrup (photo 1).  Cook, stirring regularly, for 10
minutes or until the apples have softened (photo 2).  Add more water to
the saucepan if needed.
Remove from heat and serve (see list below for serving suggestions).

HOW TO USE STEWED APPLES

There are SO many ways to use stewed cinnamon apples!
• Pop on top of oatmeal - use this recipe for How to Make Oatmeal
or try it with these Healthy Overnight Oats.
• Stir through some greek yoghurt and top with a handful of granola
for an easy breakfast.
• Serve with some vanilla ice-cream or custard for an easy dessert.
• Use as a topping for pancakes.
• Make into an apple crisp or crumble.  Use the topping for this
Healthy Individual Apple Crisp for a fun single serve dessert.
• Make apple muffins.  Just substitute the amount of stewed apples
for the amount of raw apples the recipe states.
STORING STEWED APPLES
Place leftover stewed apples in an airtight container in the fridge for up
to 4 days.  Simply reheat in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, until
heated through.
CAN I FREEZE STEWED APPLES?
You can absolutely freeze stewed apples.  Place in an airtight container
or a ziplock bag and store for up to 3 months.

TIPS FOR MAKING STEWED CINNAMON

APPLES
• Dice apples into fairly uniform pieces.  They don't need to be
exact, but cutting the apples into similar size pieces means they
cook evenly.
• Add in more water if needed.  If you find the saucepan dries out
too quickly before the apples have softened, add a little more
water in.
• Double or triple the recipe.  Stewed apples store well in the
fridge and the freezer, so make up a larger batch to keep on hand
for easy breakfasts or desserts.
