To Whom it May Concern,

I am writing regarding the recommendation of Jalyn Stinardo for the Idaho State University DNP
program. I worked with Jalyn at Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center Boise’s
Medical/Oncology unit as an RN and she was often assigned to me as my CNA. Though I no
longer work at Saint Alphonsus, I truly cherished our time together as coworkers and ultimately
a dear friend.

Whenever I saw that Jalyn was assigned as my CNA for the shift, I was always thrilled. I came
to know Jalyn as someone who performed above and beyond what the job asked. I knew that
Jalyn would make sure things such as vitals and blood sugar checks were always done on time,
meanwhile taking care of things such as toileting, bathing, and ambulating patients in between.
Patients that Jalyn was assigned to often spoke fondly of her and felt that Jalyn truly cared about
their well being and eased their anxieties as patients in the hospital.

I believe that Jalyn is more than qualified to be accepted into the DNP program. I have watched
her diligently working her way through nursing school. She has the determination and work ethic
to be the best she can be. I believe something that sets Jalyn apart from other students, is her
passion for psychology and mental illness. Jalyn already comes prepared with a bachelor’s
degree in psychology, which I believe shines through in her work as a CNA. Jalyn often speaks
of her dream to reach people with mental illness and better the way that these people are treated
through the role of DNP. Jalyn often focuses on the mental well being of patients, which I
believe can sometimes be missed in a medically focused setting.

From my experience working with Jalyn, I think that she would excel in the DNP program. I
value the relationship I have with her that continues beyond coworkers and look forward to
seeing her continue to shine in her role as an RN and hopefully DNP.

Best,
Kortney Thornburg
