How did the Ancient

Egyptians write their


Language ?
It is the major script, we can say it is the also the first type of writing was used by the
Ancient Egyptians, some early hieroglyphics were found written above objects date back
To 3000 BC and older.
The hieroglyphic script lasted for a very long time after the Ancient Egyptian Civilization and
the Greco-Roman Egypt. The last written text is at Isis temple at Philae Island at 395 AD
Different stages of the Language

1- Old Egyptian
From dynast 01 to dynasty 08 (3150 BC – 2240 BC)
2- Middle Egyptian
From dynast 09 to dynasty 12 (2240 BC – 1778 BC)
3- Late Egyptian
From dynast 18 to dynasty 24 (1573 BC – 715 BC)
4- Demotic
From dynast 25 to the Roman time (715 BC – 470 AD)
5- Coptic
From 3rd Century AD to 16th Century
The Coptic language is written in the Greek Alphabet + 7 special characters derived
from Hieroglyphs.
