Dear Parents,

My name is Nicolette Nelson, lead seventh grade teacher for world history and I am
really glad to welcome you and your child to my classroom this year. I graduated from Grand
Valley State University this past spring with the majors in Group Social Studies and Secondary
Education. As well as minors in Earth Science and Environmental Studies. This is my first-year
teaching and working with students bring me happiness, and I am so pleased to finally be able to
work in a classroom full time. My goal as an educator is to spark curiosity in the minds of
students. I hope to excite your child about the world we live in and help broaden their academic
interests in world history.
I am looking forward to meeting as well as knowing each student of my classes and their
parents. This year will be challenging one for you child compared to previous years with the
pandemic still underway. However, I will try to make the classes more interesting as well as
easier, so that each child understands as well as enjoys them. Moreover, I do not just want to
stick to academics. Rather, I am planning activities to develop the creative skills and interest of
students. I hope to make this academic year, an educational as well as fun-filled year for the
students.
If you would like to meet me to discuss your child’s performance or any other problems
that he/she is facing in class, you can feel free to email anytime at nicolettenelson16@gmail.com
and I will get back to you as soon as possible. If you wish to set up an in person meeting I would
be happy to find a time after school that works well for both parties.

Yours Sincerely,
