TUTORIAL # 1: BLENDER ~ an open source program for

VFX, 3D modeling, 3D printing, animations, and much more!

In the video tutorial, we will explore the basics of blender, a free 3D program.

We will learn:
Keyboard shortcuts for adding, deleting, and editing shapes
How to add our own found/created images as textures
How to use displacement modifiers to effect shapes
How to use keyframes to quickly animate our creations

FIRST THINGS FIRST— download the program!


1. Head to: https://www.blender.org/download/
2. Download for your Operating System (Mac, Windows, Linux?? All are
available!)
3. Once the file is downloaded, open it from your Downloads folder, or right
from your browser. A window will pop up guiding you through the install
process (Windows) or will ask you to drag blender into your Applications
folder (Mac).
4. Open up blender!
5. Use all the default settings and start a new General File
Your starting screen should look like this:

Make sure to have the program downloaded before our class on Thursday.
Watch the tutorial video, begin playing, and make sure to gather questions
for our Zoom meeting!
