Gow _ Tew te crechel dlerable 12 designs by Carolyn Christmas Savage Dear Friend, Thank you very much for appreciating and supporting the efforts of an independent crochet designer. It is my mission to bring you exciting, fun, top- quality designs with detailed instructions to help you get maximum enjoyment from your crochet hobby. I'm excited to present these adorable little stuffed animals, called Amigurumi in Japan. Now, on a more seriqus note. This is an original crochet patter, joyfully created by me—an independent, self-employed crochet designer. This pattern holds a registered United States copyright with world rights retained. Please do hot copy, scan, share, email, post, or otherwise distribute this pattem in any manner, To do so is equivalent to stealing from me, It is a federal offense, and an international crime, Internet pattem sharing has put many designers out of business and this makes me incredibly sad. Every designer | know feels the same sadness and betrayal when this happens. I'm appealing to you, as purchaser of this pattern, to support the efforts of independent crochet designers by NOT sharing, emailing, posting or otherwise distributing my pattems. Refraining from doing so is the first step in breaking the chain of unlawful distribution, Why.is sharing such a problem? I'll explain. Say you copy and email this pattem to your three closest crochet friends. The next day they each email it to three of their crochet friends, The next day those people do the same. At the end of a week, the pattern will have been emailed to over 3,000 people. And that is not even considering that somewhere in there, there is bound to be at least a handful of crocheters who send the pattem out to dozens of people at once. If you're feeling especially passionate about this issue, I'l ask you to please take every opportunity online to speak out. If you see someone asking for or offering photocopies or scans of pattems that you know are the work of independent, self-employed designers, take a moment to kindly let them know what they are asking for is illegal, (It's just as illegal to steal pattems from big publishing companies too—and that hurts designers too, not to mention that these companies often criminally prosecute—but 'm more focused on getting people to realize the consequences of freely sharing current pattems created by small, independent, self-employed designers.) Some people simply don't know it is against the-law, and they have no idea how it affects designers like me. love creating unusual, exciting and fun designs far you to crochet, but at the ‘same time | have to make some kind of income for my family. If my patterns are distributed unlawfully on the Intemet, | will be forced to quit designing. Its that simple. Thanks very much for reading this all the way to the end @ And thanks again for purchasing this pattem. Best wishes and happy crocheting! This is a perfect use of scrap yarn as most of these can be made with 2 oz or less of the main color. Gauge is rough ly 4 se and + rows per inch. Exact gauge is not imponant; however, work should. be close enough thar when stuffed, stull- ing does not show through stitches. Most body parts are made by working in, rounds without joining, To make this easier, use a scrap of yarn between.the last st of one tow and first stitch of the next. Flip the end of scrap yarn to the. front on one row, then to the back on the next row and so on, weaving through work as you stitch, When counting rows, count just to-the night of the scrap yarn. Leave yarn tails for sewing parts together when fastening off. Felt muzzles and hoses cain be glued in place with fabric glue or sewn in plade using matching sewing thread and needle. | encourage you to experiment adding felt to insides of ears and for ovals on tummies as well. To change colors, in last sc before color change, do not complete sc. Do nat pull yarn through 2 loops on hook. Pull new color through last 2 Ips.on hook: make next sc-with new. color. For stripes, drop: unused color to back of work and pick up as needed. For a "baby" look, try to sew ficial fea tures on the bottom half of face as much as possible. Japanese amigurumi often have eyes that are-extremely widely spaced and sometimes lower than the nose! Look at photos closély and try different placements to find what pleases you. Buttons and small parts can be a hazard to small chiltlren. To be safe, all animals intended for use as tays should have embroidered eyes, not button eyes. Sew all parts together securely.
