Wet screening and dry screening are both used in the industry. Mention at least
3 uses of wet screening and at least 3 uses of dry screening in the industry. Give a
brief explanation why dry/wet screening is preferred for that specific purpose.

Uses of wet screening in the industry:

1. Wet screening is used in the mining industry to separate precious minerals. It is the
preferred type of screening because it washes away dirt and clays and prevents
dust from fleeing and choking the equipment.
2. It is used to prepare a granular material for particle size analysis. It is the preferred
type of screening because it can remove fines that may impede the separation
process.
3. It is used to evaluate particle size distribution or gradation of a granular material.
It is the preferred type of screening because it produces a more accurate
assessment of the particles.

Uses of dry screening in the industry:

1. It is used for the separation process in the food and beverage,
pharmaceutical, and chemical industry. It is the preferred type of screening
because it can be used by shaking or vibrating the sieve, which allows the
particles to seek the openings in the wire mesh; thus, the particles can
separate on their own.
2. It is used to measure the mean weight diameter of soil aggregates for the
reason of the easier separation of soil aggregates; this type of screening is
employed.
3. It is used to measure aggregate size distribution and aggregate stability.
