WELCOME TO WEEK ONE OF SHRM

Hi everyone!

Well this is the first day of our class and the start of a great time to learn about
Human Resource Management and what it can do for the organization and its bottom
line.

For the first week we will look at The Context of Strategic Human Resources
Management (Part 1). The purpose of this week is to establish the context for
managing human resources (HR) within an organization. The focus is on
understanding how external environmental conditions drive business strategies and
how those strategies should be used to drive HR practices. Businesses that want to
compete in the global marketplace must pay particular attention to their employees.
The first step in managing people is determining which HR practices is most
appropriately put in place to deal with the world environment.
