cm DACROMET raver & Weil, leaders in the metal finishing industry in the Indian sub-continent, are constantly endeavoring to induct new fechnologies and offer the lates facilifies and services to the Surfoce Treaiimentindustry. Backed by a rich experience of more than five decades, our Research & Development deporiment has the privilege of introducing mony “Firsts” in the Ploting industries of our country. In keeping with this todition, we have joined honds with M/s. Nippon Dacro Shamrock Company of Japanto introduce the world famous ‘Dacrotizing! processes in Incic. ‘Dacrotizing provides outstanding protection to metallic surfaces, against corrosion. This famous coating known by the name ‘Dacromet’ consists of inorganic silver grey deposits comprising Zinc and Aluminum flakes, uniformly distributed on the entire substrate. ress DACROMET is applied by a throe-stoge process: 1. SURFACE PREPARATION ‘As with every surface treatment, DACROTIZING requires @ perfect surface cleaning. A mechanical preparation is generolly proffered but chemical cleaning can elso be epproved for many types of components. 2. COATING Parts to be treated in bulk or on racks are covered with a wet film by immersing in a cold aqueous dispersion, without any electrolyie action. The use of« pneumaticelectrostatic sprey gunisan altemative method of applying the coating. 3. CURING The final structure coetais achieved by curing at about 300°C. This advantage develops the properties of adhesion and comrosion, resistance for thetfiim. ‘Two coats are ¢ minimum for bulk dip-spin treatment. Parts treated by other coating methods can have either a single or multiplelayers. PROCESS PUM Nesvoa ye NOHYDROGEN EMBRITTLEMENT Mechanical surface preparetion (degreasing + abrasive cleaning) prevents eny risk of hydrogen embritllement during the entire process, When chemical surface cleaning is used, the curing at 300°C. and the non crystalline structure of the coating ensure the absence of embrittlement. OVERALL COVERAGE During the dipping processes also the intemal surface of parts ore protected, ©.g. spring pins, small assemblies, clips, etc. PROTECTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT DACROTIZING is almost pollution free process. No air pollution (only aqueous products), water pollution is limited only to the surface cleaning stage and the periodic cleaning of coating equipment{e.g. beskets). Tsk ora dae WEATHERABILITY Under normel atmospheric conditions, he DACROTIZED coating provides very long life which is proportioned io the thickness of the coatings itself CORROSION RESISTANCE At equivalent coating weights, DACROMET has o corrosion resistance superior to many other sysiems. This resistance is due to the barrier effect created by the overell coverage of zine and aluminium flakes ond fo the sacrificial protection of zine controlled by the aluminium inthe coating and by the chromate passivation throughout the film. Indeed, compared to other zinc coatings, the internal passivation of DACROMET considerable reduces the formation of white rus ine corrosion products). Aswith all sacrificial coatings, corrosion protection by DACROMET is proportional fo the quantity of coating applied. Inpractice, wo grades have been stondardized Grade A: min 24g/m2 = (approx. 54) Grade B : min 36g/m2 = (opprox.8u) NB: Upto 25j1can beapplied if required. WEATHERABILITY ZINC : = ELECTROPLATING . DACROTIZED” RESISTANCE TO 5% NEUTRAL SALT SPRAY TEST (ASTM 117, 857479, DINS0021) DACROMET performances considerably exceed the requirements specified by the automobileindustry GradeA: Min, 250 hre. withoutwhite rust Min, 500 hrs. withoutredrust Grade B: Min. 250 hrs. without white rust Min 1000 hrs. without red rust These performances remain unchanged aiter a heat treatment of 8hrs. at 260°C. RESISTANCETO CYCLIC TESTS DACROMET conforms tothe different cyclic tests used by the automobile industry (3C Renault, PNW 1210 VW / Audi, APGE, CCTI2, etc RESISTANCE TO KESTERNICH TEST (DIN 50018-SFW2.05) This testis on acidic attack on the coating. Therefore, the resistances direcily proportional to the coating weight. Depending on the parts, cooting thickness of 8 to 104 provides resistance superior oF3 cycles ormore. RESISTANCE TO BIMETALLIC CORROSION Excellent performances in contact with aluminium, chromium, zinc and tin; but less corrosion resistance with stainless steel, copper, nickoland loed. HEATRESISTANCE Properties of DACROTIZED parts are maintoined up to about 280°C. DACROMET is therefore perfectly suitable for parts in the engine compartments of vehicles. RESISTANCE TO ORGANIC PRODUCTS Excellent resistonceto solven's, fuel ond hydraulic fluids. DACROMET isan electrically conductive coating, The DACROMET film can be covered by a point film which has direct metal achesion (e.g. DACROKOTE] WAR aoe) DACROTIZING WILL PROTECT Steol, particulerly high strength steels normally sensitive to hydrogen emibritloment Castiron. Some sintered metals. Aluminium and some ofits alloys. Itis used for protection of small parts (screws, clips, nails, springs, elc.), but olso for important parts such os (brake discs, chains, containers, pallets, etc.) It hos been developed principolly within the automobile industry but is being extended to other industries such as house- building and appliance incstries, et. Wire ‘+ Some visible contoct marks may occur en flat surfaces treated in bulk by dip-spin method. ‘* Portshave toaccept curing ot approx. 300°C. ‘+ Limited ductiliy restricts further plastic deformation |crimping-bending) but is entirely odequate for the protection of parts which deform elastically, i.e. springs ond clios.
