Drinking alcohol to the point of getting intoxicated has been a national sport, and the existence of 24 hour bars,

instead of quenching the thirst of the British people, it has encouraged it. British people have had a bad publicity
because of their excessive drinking. Their erratic behavior caused by alcohol has brought about the contempt and
despise of their continental European neighbors who have enjoyed a more relaxed drinking legislation and even
more tolerant alcohol culture. Binge drinking is typical not only of Brit teens but also of more mature Britons who
behave just as irrational as their younger fellow countrymen when they are under the influence of alcohol. Instead of
cutting down on the binge drinking, the opening of 24 hour bars and venues has led to its wide spreading.
