WHAT IS CIVIL LAW?

Civil law is a system of laws and norms that regulates everything related to
people, the legal links between them and with property at a private level.
These laws are usually established in the civil code of each country.
HISTORY OF CIVIL LAW
Civil law is part of European continental law, inherited from ancient
Roman law. Its name comes from the Latin ius civilis, a law applied
in Ancient Rome to Roman citizens exclusively, since the ius
gentium ("law of nations") was applied to the rest of the citizens of
the Empire.

However, throughout the Middle Ages this branch of law was confused with the
whole Roman Law. Much later this branch acquired its own name and was
understood as part of private law.
PURPOSE CIVIL LAW
The establishment and preservation of the good order of human life
within political society requires that some ethical principles, especially
those relating to justice, be promulgated, made explicit, determined and
sanctioned by the political authorities through civil laws.
IMPORTANCE CIVIL LAW

It deals with guaranteeing social peace and justice in personal, productive and
commercial relationships between the individuals of a society. This ensures
that the legal framework is respected in private life, that is, in the segments of
society in which the State is not an actor.
