The Neo-Realist Cinema (situation of cinema world ) After the end of world war 2 the cinema industry suffered with immense loss and immeasurable devastation. There was a severe loss of human lives and acute loss of resources. Because the cinema industry faced such severe loss and changes after the world war 2 this situation led the cinema to a different film making trend. The situation became harsh , as the films came out of the studio. At that time common people from real life came out and became actors just for the films. The tales and stories of human sufferings and losses became prominent for the cinema. Also the places where shoots were done for the films were local streets and real life locations. The situation was critical and cinema industry faced so many crisis. Now the films were made with very limited budget and resources.
The correlation between society and films.
The films and society are strongly correlated with each other in many aspects. Films and cinema have the power to influence the thoughts and opinion of the viewers/audience. As a viewer we relate every story of the film to our real life story, we tend to behave and follow all the trends which we watch in the films. Such power of influencing people can be positive as well as negative. Content which is related with social values and norms educate and informs people about social responsibility and simplicity. On the other hand there are view films which are only produced just for the entertainment purpose and so people watch it and follow the style of the character, walk, clothes the way the actor/actress speaks. After the world war 2 films were made on the sufferings and loss of humans and resources. Such films were related to the real lives of people at that time who lost all the resources and lives. That content was fully based on social issue and brings out the emotions and struggles of people.
Cinema after world war 2.
After the world war 2 the cinema was converted into a different film making industry. The directors and producers focused on emotions and socially responsible cinema. Before world war 2 there focus was not on producing content which relates with situation and emotions of humans. Also they focused on core production of lighting, editing and sound in the film making which later became the prior support for film creation.
The socially responsible cinema and main stream cinema.
As cinema is a wide and the easiest way to reach out masses and influence them to think and develop thoughts. Films can be produced on social values and norms or it can be produced as a main stream cinema. Before world war 2 the film makers were not intended towards the social factor for making a film, but after the war they focused on developing such tales and stories for the film which were all about the human emotions and had social impact on society. They produced the content which were related with loss of human lives , loss of resources after the world war 2 instead of focusing on main stream cinema. Because of low budget and less resources the best content for the film makers were to create the socially responsible cinema.
Film making is a serious art form.
Film making is an high degree of an art form as it involves writing, story, ideation, photography, videography, concept, animation , visual effects, music, acting and bundles of skills , talent and experience. Of course films are created to entertain people but are also created to inform and educate people. Films are not merely based for entertainment purpose or meant for business. If we relate the statement , ‘films being an art form and are not just meant for the purpose of business’ with the cinema after world war 2 is the best example of how films are an art form. After the war the situation of cinema was falling down because of abrupt losses of lives and resources, then too the film makers produced the art of emotions and feelings. They created such stories which touched the feelings of human’s life struggles during and after the war. Despite knowing the fact of low budget and planning , less resources the film makers created artistic films rather than concentrating on the business.
