CHIHUAHUA, CHIHUAHUA
Charlie watched the windows anxiously, wondering when it would start. Election day
was here, the most important day of the year and everyone had to make a decision
because the future of the country, the future of the planet and the future of the people
depended on it. Charlie came from a family of republicans, but he had different opinions
from his family, he was actually gay, so voting for the republican party wasn’t doing it for
him and his rights as a person.

When he first came out to his parents, they weren’t very supportive, he even left the
house for a while but eventually the talked things through and they accepted him for
who he is. Charlie started to educate his parents on everything they needed to know
from the community, the values and the opinions he had, and his parents started to
realize that the community not only supported themselves but supported everyone else.
One of the most important things that Charlie explained to his parents was why they
shouldn’t vote for Trump, the main thing was that he doesn’t support LGBTQ+ rights
and really doesn’t care for them, after explaining his parents that if they voted for him,
his rights as a person would get compromised, they understanded how important was
that the democrats win this upcoming election, so after that Charlie and his parents
started to educate themselves and when they knew enough about it they started to talk
to the family and friends and explained how voting for Trump would affect not only the
LGBTQ+ community but the entire country.

This is a short story that gives a very good example that opinions can be changed and
that it is very important that you talk to your family and friends about making an
informed decision, because this is not only going to affect you, but the entire country
and you need to be aware of the mindset that your choice has. If they are supporting the
LGBTQ+ community, what are their opinions on climate change and what are they
planning on doing to help the environment, if they support the black community and
black rights, and their opinion on police brutality. This and many other issues are what
you need to think when you vote, because you are not just voting for you, but for every
girl and boy in the country, for every immigrant, every person that needs health care
and each and every one of the people and families that have been affected by the
pandemic and that have lost their jobs. Please think about them when you vote.
