Today, we are in the smart era. We definitely cannot forsee a life without the use of our smartphones, Coming close to this is smart meters, smart manufacturing, and even smart cities. Now, most, or all of these, would require loT. We are now in an era of the Industrial Internet of Things (lo), where the Usage of IoT is going beyond the consumer. It is also connecting machines and devices to enhance productivity and improve efficiencies, and in improving the health or safety. Cloud computing provides massive scale storage capabilities and the elasticity to manage the huge workload generated from IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) data optimally. With better visibility into the plant availability and control on product quality, even manufacturers can achieve better on-time and in-full delivery performance. By Using lloT, manufacturers can now monitor their energy consumption in real- time and find different opportunities for cost savings. ‘Another key area is to watch out for the advent of 5G, and how it will benefit HoT and supporting technologies. An industrial automation network requires low latency and flexible communications, which are provided by TSN and 5G, respectively. 5G and TSN can be integrated to provide solutions to the demands of ubiquitous and seamless connectivity. Remember, integrating these technologies provides a network needed for smart factories. For those choosing to opt out of using either of loT and lloT and possibly, 4G/SG networks, the time has come for a huge change. The Industrial Internet of Things (lloT) combines digital technologies such as cloud computing, loT and ML and to drive value for the businesses and help them to stay competitive in the global market by reducing cost of operations and customer servicing COVER STORY biquitous connectivity, cheap data rate, reduction in sensor price, reduced cloud ‘commute and data storage cost, availability of massive data from operational technology, device sensors and enterprise systems etc., are some of the key catalysts that are making lloT a reality. Geo political instability, trade wars, fluctuating price of ‘commodity, ete., further adds to challenges. Customers are demanding greater experience. They are no longer loyal to one brand. Global players entering the market, and startups offering better services at the cheap rates, are further beefing up the competition. The need of the hour for businesses is: * How do they increase the topline by identifying customer needs and offering personalized products and services with faster turnaround and consistent quality? * How do they innovate with business model to generate new revenue stream? * How do they adopt sustainable business practices to contribute to the environment health and safety objectives, and increase brand value? * How do they embrace technology advancements and infuse them in the processes to achieve all of the above? HoT for Business Predictive analytics applied on these data can help pre-empt the equipment condition and reduce the unplanned downtime and production loss. It can also help produce consistent quality of product by providing early indicators of product defect to reduce rejections, rework and warranty claims. he 10 November, 2019 www.dgindia.com With better visibility nto the plant availability and control ‘on product quality, manufacturers can achieve better ‘on-time and in-full delivery performance and achieve higher revenue. With lloT, manufacturers can monitor ‘energy consumption in real-time and find opportunities for savings, as the energy cost contributes to significant portion of manufacturing cost. With the advancement in sensor technologies, It is possible to make the product smart. With smart products, manufacturers can gain real-time insights of their products and usage pattern. Data generated in the field can be used to improve the Product design and performance. It can also help reduce the churn rate of customers by offering superior customer service around smart products. With smart products, businesses can innovate with their model by offering product as service or creating new offerings and monetising them. However, perhaps the biggest evolution from loT perspective that is happening today is the Industrial internet of things (lloT). In IloT, the usage of IoT is, going beyond the consumer, and connecting machines and devices, not just to enhance productivity, improve efficiencies, but also improving the health or safety. Many of the applications are in the areas that may be high risk, WoT and 5G ‘One key development to watch out for is how the advent 5G technology will benefit IloT and supporting technologies. According to Amar Jadhav, lloT is changing the way businesses are run with technology advancement in sensors, Big Data, cloud communications and other ‘communication technologies. 5G is a next generation of communications. It will have widespread impact on multiple areas, ranging from manufacturing, education, healthcare, citizen services and gaming. ‘Some of the most important performance currencies that 5G brings to the table are: higher reliability, higher throughput, lowerlatency andincreasedenergy efficiency. In technology terms, 5G is poised to bring applications in the areas of enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB), massive machine-type communications (mMTC), and Ultra-reliable and low-latency communications (uRLLC). The other application 5G is going to enable is edge cloud computing from within the communications network. This multi-edge cloud can bring lower round- trip latency and higher overall availability. All of these A CyberMedia Publication! DATAQUEST COVER STORY IIOT ALLOWS ACQUIRING SENSOR DATA FROM CONNECTED DEVICES TO GENERATE NEW INSIGHTS, AND PROVIDE ACTION TO DRIVE VALUE. A MANUFACTURER CAN USE THE DATA GENERATED FROM SHOPFLOOR TO MONITOR THE EQUIPMENT HEALTH AND PERFORMANCE, PRODUCT QUALITY AND COST OF OPERATION IN REAL TIME — Amar Jadhav, Senior Solution Architect, SAP India characteristics of 5G are going to bring massive value to manufacturers in the area of equipment availability, product quality, and safe and sustainable manufacturing operations. ‘Traditionally, Industrial operational technology networks are completely wired because of ero tolerance, ‘when it comes to network reliability and latency. There is no suitable wireless alternative. The field sensor devices fare connected to the industrial gateway, distributed control system (DCS) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems through wired networks using the Ethernet. With 5G mMTC, it is possible to connect industrial machines wirelessly, without compromising on data latency, network reliability and data volume. Thus, ‘manufacturers can optimize the CAPEX required to set DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication up the automation network at the shop floor to start their loT journey. According to Viay Sethi, 86 technology promises to reduce costs relating to the cabling infrastructure and also ensure flexibility on shop floor by supporting things like autonomous carts, automated Guided vehicles (AGVs), supporting connectivity to remote sites allowing connectivity of dispersed factories ‘across different locations, thus increasing the flexblity in industrial applications. HoT and Cloud Computing Cloud computing provides massive scale storage capabilities and the elasticity to manage the huge workload generated from IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) data optimally. With the economics of scale that some of the cloud service providers have achieved, it is also economical now to ‘subscribe to cloud services, rather than set up your own data center, to process massive amounts of data, ‘Amar Jadhav felt that the benefits that Ilo brings, helps generate greater Rol for businesses. Cloud services. like loT connectivity, device management, Big Data storage, machine learning algorithms, data visualization capabilities, cloud-to-cloud interoperability, cloud-to- enterprise application integration capabilities, cloud identity services for secure data communication, and user authorization, etc., are all making cloud the de facto, platform for organizations to start their loT journey. Hero's Vijay Sethi said that lloT is today used in areas like predictive maintenance, where real-time data generated from the lloT systems can be used to predict defects in machinery. It can ensure that action can be ‘www.dgindia.com November, 2019 | 11 COVER STORY taken before the machine breaks down, to reduce down time, asset tracking, supply chain, monitoring conditions, within a factory, monitoring machine performance like vibrations, temperature and other factors. This is to ensure that the performance of the machine, and hence, the quality of products, is optimal. Other areas include remote inspection and diagnostics, tracking products and machine inventory, using AR/VR for maintenance and training, management of production facilities, the use of robotics on the shop floor, tracking goods post-production etc. HoT and Smart Manufacturing ‘Smart manufacturing consists of production machines equipped with sensors connected to DCS, SCADA and data historian systems. These are providing access to huge amount of shop floor data, as well as the usage ‘of other technologies such as autonomous robots, 412 November, 2019 www.dgindia.com material-handling equipment, etc. These technologies are bringing a lot of process automation and efficiencies to the manufacturing operations. Amar Jadhav said that IloT, which can leverage these data, process it by applying machine learning and advanced analytics, can bring great to value to business. Here are some benefits around production, maintenance and quality. Production * Plant capacity and machine availability are known at any point of time to schedule production operations. * Optimized production scheduling decisions by sched- uling the operations to most efficient equipments. ‘Increase on time and in full performance by accurately committing the delivery date based on plant availability. * Reduce cost of production by optimizing eneray consumption. Maintenance © Optimised maintenance schedule (move from time-based to usage-based and condition-based maintenance). * Reduced equipment production loss, * Reduced maintenance cost by avoiding over maintenance. ‘* Optimised spares planning based on machine health condition * Increase health and safety performance. unplanned downtime and Quality * Consistently achieve golden batch. ‘+ Reduce rework or scrap. * Optimize cost of quality. * Faster root cause analysis for quality defects. 5G-TSN and IloT Another area of importance is how does 5G-TSN (time- sensitive networking) integration meets the networking equirements for industrial automation. SAP's Amar Jadhav said the industrial automation network requires low latency and flexible communications, which are provided by TSN and 5G, respectively. Beyond that, 5G and TSN can be integrated to provide solutions to the demands of ubiquitous and seamless connectivity, with the deterministic QoS required by control applications A CyberMedia Publication| DATAQUEST COVER STORY AS TECHNOLOGY HAS EVOLVED OVER LAST FEW YEARS, ONE CAN SEE INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT) EVOLVING IN A BIG WAY BECAUSE OF THE CONVERGENCE OF TECHNOLOGIES, INCLUDING SENSORS, CLOUD, ANALYTICS, MACHINE LEARNING, AR/VR AND OTHERS. ORGANISATIONS HAVE STARTED GETTING BENEFITS OF IOT, INCLUDING ENHANCING THE CUSTOMER DELIGHT — Miiay Sethi, ClO, & Head HR & Head, CSR, Hero Motocorp ‘end to end. Ultimately, integrating these key technologies provides what is needed for smart factories. 5G supports two requirement categories: massive machine-type communication for a large number of connected devices/sensors and ultra-reliable low- latency communication (URLLC) for connected control systems and critical communication. The capabilities of URLLC make 5G a suitable candidate for wireless deterministic and time-sensitive communication. This is essential for industrial automation, as it can enable the creation of real-time interactive systems and for the integration with TSN. TSN provides capabilities/features around traffic shaping, resource management, time synchronization and reliability. 5G URLLC capabilities provide a good match to TSN features. The two key technologies can be combined and integrated to provide deterministic connectivity fend to end, such as that between the input/output (VO) devices and their controller, which is potentially residing in an edge cloud, for industrial automation. Integration is needed between the 5G and TSN to provide the end-to-end Ethernet connectivity to ‘meet the smart factory requirements. Integrated time synchronization via wireless 5G and wired TSN domains provides a common reference time for the industrial end points. According to Vijay Sethi, the lloT is a critical piece in an organization's Industry 4.0 journey. Here, lloT connectivity plays an important role, For getting value from IloT, one needs to ensure reliable, fast and secure data transfer in a timely manner. This is where 5G and TSN can play a big role. DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication TSN for Industrial Automation ‘That leads to the role TSN has in industrial automation. TSN is a set of standards under development by the ‘Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group of the IEEE 802.1 ‘working group. The standards define mechanisms for the time-sensitive transmission of data over deterministic Ethernet networks. TSN covers three essential features: Time synchronisation: All devices that are participating in real-time communication need to have a ‘common understanding of time. ‘Scheduling and traffic shaping: All devices that are Participating in real-time communication adhere to the ‘same rules in processing and forwarding communication Packets, Selection: Selection of communication paths, path reservations and fault-tolerance. According toAmar Jadhavmost of the industrial operations are performed with the combination of rT Novernber, 2019 | 13 ‘www.dgindia.com COVER STORY equipments, which are time synchronized. Even a split-second delay in the operation of any one of the equipment, can cause quality issue, machine ‘malfunction or production line stoppage. Various control and protection mechanisms are deployed in a highly automated environment to avoid these conditions. Similarly, if we are talking about collecting lot of data from shopfioor from different machines and sensors, the data has to be rationalized with common time dimension. This helps finding the accurate correlation between the data and find patterns from it. ‘All devices that are participating in real-time ‘communication adhere to the same rules in selecting ‘communication paths and in reserving bandwidth and time slots, possibly utilizing more than one simultaneous path to achieve fault-tolerance. All of these features are essential for the reason mentioned above. Vijay Sethi felt that TSN, which defines a set of IEEE standards primarily developed for Ethernet, could be a big enabler, along with 5G. The main goal of TSN is to provide deterministic services over the Ethernet wired networks, thus having guaranteed packet transport with low and bounded latency, low packet delay variation, and low packet losses. Together, 5G and TSN would give a major boost to lloT globally, thereby, significantly enhancing the value that can be derived from an organization's lloT investments. 14 November, 2019 SCADA vs lloT Let us also look at the key differences between SCADA (supervisory control and data access) and IloT, and how those can be overcomealf you look at the industrial network topology, at the very first level, there are ‘equipment and field sensors. These field sensors are connected to the programmable logic controller (PLC). Multiple equipment PLCs are connected to DCS. DCS. is, in turn, connected to SCADA. ‘SCADA provides the control layer over all the shop floor equipment, which are connected. It provides visualization of the current state of the operating condition of the various equipment installed on the shop floor that are working in tandem for executing the production operation. Connection from the field sensors to SCADA is mostly wired connection through Ethernet protocol over LAN. Data is only available to control room operators for analysis and decision making. As SCADA captures lots of time series data, it sends the data to the data historian system, which provides economical storage of time series data with good analytical capabilities. ‘Amar Jadhav said: “When we talk about IloT, we are talking about machines connected to the Internet sending huge amount of data to cloud and leveraging cloud elasticity, data storage capabilities and compute Power to process data and generate new insights. Data and insights can be provided to all the responsible “SCADA AND lloT CAN ee) eS SN ea OTHER TO GENERATE VALUE FOR THE BUSINESS. As SCADA is already taking care of data acquisition part, the organization can use IoT connectivity to send data to cloud and generate Insights to achieve the desired outcome. The edge services sitting on the SCADA server, can help process data at the edge, and apply ML capabilities at the edge to generate predictive insights. This is critical when the latency in data processing is not acceptable. Eg., monitoring in process quality.” Li-Fi to Enable IloT for Oil and Gas Light fidelity (Li-FI) technology is a ground-breaking light-based communication technology, which makes use of light waves instead of radio wave technology to deliver data. LI-Fi mainly deals with the transmission of alphanumeric data using visible light communication. Li-Fi communication uses light frequencies, rather than the usual radio waves, which can produce data rates faster than 10 Megabits per second, which is very much efficient than our average broadband connection of Wi- Fi ‘As per a recent post published by IEEE, Li-Fi is gaining ground through the use cases that demonstrate its viability as a global wireless solution, with an initial DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication COVER STORY applicability in electromagnetic interference-challenged environments, such as hospitals, petrochemical plants, and airplanes, but also in secure environments where RF is not sanctioned, ‘Amar Jadhav said that most of the oil and gas facilities fare restricted for the use RF waves. The machines ‘operating in the license zones are connected to the automation system using Ethernet protocol. LI-FI can play a big role in the areas of workers’ safety, tools and tackles management, critical spares track and trace management, material handling equipment monitoring, ‘etc., which are generally outside the purview of industrial automation. A forklift used for loading the maintenance spares and assembly in to the truck to send it to the maintenance site can be installed with the Li-Fl-enabled sensors. It can continuously provide the location information of the forklift, as well as help monitor the utilization of the forklift. LED sensors can help detect collision between ‘two forklifts, thus reducing the safety incidents. Similarly, workers in remote sites can be provided with wearables having Li-Fi-enabled sensors. Li-Fl can also help detect the presence of dangerous gas ‘or containment in the environment where workers are working. With this information, a safety manager can track the location and health of each worker and ensure timely assistance, whenever it is required, and insure worker safety. ‘www.dgindia.com Novernber, 2019 | 15 COVER STORY oT Replacing MES- and Related Apps? Wewillalsolookat whether thelloT platforms arebeginning to replace MES- and related applications. According to Amar Jadhav, the MES (Manufacturing Execution System) sits between the plant automation system and the enterprise system. It bridges the gap between the top floor to the shop floor. MES system helps you to orchestrate the machines on the shop floor to achieve the desired production output. It provides the abilty to automate the data capture and post the transaction in the ERP system. For example, the MES system can post raw material inventory data and machine process parameter data in the ERP for production order confirmation. Apart from this, the MES enables to you capture the data related to speed loss, rework, unplanned downtime, etc. This helps organizations to calculate the overall equipment effectiveness of the equipment, which is a measure of production, quality and maintenance performance. Hence, the lloT may not be able to replace MES completely. MES, with its niche capabilites, is stil avery critical part of operations. The pre-built MES packages available in the market avoid building something from the scratch, and enables faster deployment and quick time to value. The lloT platform can also be used to build the MES solution wherever the complexity is not very high. lloT can enable 2 lot of advanced analytical use cases like predictive maintenance, predictive quality, energy management, etc., which are over and above the traditional MES capabilities. MoT Market Size According to Grandview Research Inc., the lloT market was valued at USD 367.77 billion in 2018. The global lloT market size Is expected to reach USD 949.42 billion by 2025, according to a new report by Grandview Research Inc. It is projected to expand at a CAGR of 29.4% during the forecast period. As per Mordor Inteligence, the global lloT market is expected to reach USD 921.09 billion by 2024, at a CAGR of 17.62% during the forecast period (2019 to 2024). The Asia-Pacific region is expected to account for the largest share in the overall IloT market. The huge market in this region is mainly due to the adoption of lloT across various industries, like manufacturing, healthcare, etc. Recent reports by ASSOCHAM and EY reveal that the Indian loT market has the potential to unlock USD 16 | November, 2019 www.dgindia.com $11.1 billion in revenues by 2022, by reaching 2 billion connections, making it a key economic contributor that «will help propel India towards a USD $1 trillion economy. Industries Adopting oT Now, we will take a look at the industries and verticals adopting lloT, and the current and future use cases for lloT. As per Amar Jadhav, industries ranging from discrete industries. (automobile, industrial machines land component manufacturing) energy and natural resources (utilities, metal and mining, oll & gas), travel and transportation (SPL service providers, freight service providers), engineering construction and operation (EPC service providers, infrastructure operators) to consumer product companies (FMCG and retal) are some of the early adaptors of IIT. Here are some industry-wise current use cases of lloT: + Automobile Automobile engine manufacturers test every engine that they have assembled, first using cold test bed, and then using hot and load test bed. These tests contribute to approximately 1% of the overall engine cost. Moreover, hot and load test significantly increases the cycle time and introduces the bottleneck in the production operation. With loT and ML, itis now possible to analyze huge amount of data generated from test bed equipment and engine test cycle across historical tests to predict whether the engine is be required to be sent to hot test or load test, reduce the cost of engine testing and reduce cycle time. Edge computing will enable faster processing of data at the edge to speed up decision making. * Utilities Electricity distribution utilities operate huge amount of assets spread across geography to provide quality and reliable supply to their customers. The failures of these assets can create stress on the network, impact revenue and increase repair expenditure. One of the critical assets in the network is the underground cable, Any fault in the cable network can cause supply disruption. Moreover, cable fault requires paying re-instatement charges to the municipality as it is needed to dig the road and fll it again. By leveraging cable geospatial data and attributes like lenath, joints, type of material , age, etc., and ‘A CyberMedia Publication] DATAQUEST combine it with ERP data like type of fault, repair cost, etc., as well as bringing real-time data of amount of load carried by cable using automation system data + Utlties can calculate the health score of cable and Use spatial analytics to view the cable network with color coding indicating its health. This can help utilities to take proactive shutdown and replace cable stretch which has high probability of failure. Industrial machine manufacturer ‘The traditional business models of an industrial machine manufacturer is to sell equipment to the operator and offer maintenance service as part of the annual maintenance contract. Operators today are looking at balancing their OPEX and CAPEX. Rather than owning equipment, they are renting the equipment. This opens up a new business model for manufacturers. Manufacturers can now offer equipment as service. For ensuring the machine availability and output that the client is expecting, it is required to monitor the ‘equipment remotely and ensure timely maintenance to avoid loss of revenue. Proactive maintenance planning can help manufacturer offering this new service, reduce their own operational cost. Example of Future loT Use Case Oil & Gas One of the critical equipment used in Oil & Gas refinery or petrochemical refinery are heat exchangers. Heat exchangers transfer heat from one medium to another. DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication COVER STORY AUTOMOBILE ENGINE MANUFACTURERS TEST EVERY ENGINE THAT THEY HAVE ASSEMBLED, FIRST USING COLD TEST BED, CPEs SROs Cea OhM AN Py LOAD TEST BED. THESE TESTS CONTRIBUTE TO Nese a ed OVERALL ENGINE COST ‘The proper design, operation and maintenance of heat ‘exchangers make the process energy efficient and minimize energy losses. Heat exchanger performance ‘can deteriorate with time, off-design operations and other interferences such as fouling, scaling, etc. Itis necessary to assess periodically the heat exchanger performance in order to maintain them at a high efficiency level. The rupture in the tube can cause the containment loss, which may result to process the safety incident. Withthe current system the challenges that organizations face are around lack of real-time view of heat exchanger performance, the post facto analysis of performance data to trigger the energy efficiency improvement projects, increase fuel usage due to inefficient heat transfer, costly to put sensors to monitor all the input parameters, lack of simulation capabilites, etc. Most of the equipment have their engineering data available with organization. With this data, it is possible to create 3D engineering simulation model, based on the boundary condition defined (input parameters and their ranges). It will be possible to estimate in real-time heat exchanger performance based on the engineering model and operational data (loT data). Parameter values will be estimated based on the simulation model, where there are no sensors are installed. With this, it would be possible to predict the heat exchanger performance data in real time, as well as get the visibility into contributing factors for deteriorating performance for planning proactive corrective preventive measures. ‘www.dgindia.com November, 2019 | 17 FORWARD VIEW Sachin Paranjape | malldgindia@cybermedia.co.in Access Over Ownership Are network orchestrators geared to orchestrate their victory against extended enterprise risks? 6 cess over ownership’ is the kernel of truth backing the unstoppable rise of today’s sharing economy. The Industrial Revolution sparked a change from hand production to ‘machines and capital-intensive processes. In this ‘Asset Builders’ phase, physical assets were key determinants of performance and value. In the 70s, firms shifted to a lower capital model where they leveraged human capital (in the form of services) yielding higher returns. This was the ‘Service Provider’ phase. With the development of the internet, the Information Revolution gave rise to ‘Technology Creators’. This model used capital to develop and sell intellectual property (IP) commonly seen in industries such as bio technology, software, analytics etc. Reorganisation of Economy We are in the midst of a reorganisation of our economy in which platform owners are a seemingly developing power that may be even more formidable than that of the factory owners in the early Industrial Revolution. Let's, determine how. Each succeeding model has a multiplier twice the value of the model it succeeded i.e. the ‘Service Providers’ generated twice the value that ‘Asset Builders’ generated, while ‘Technology Creators’ were twice as valuable as, "Service Providers’ and now ‘Network Orchestrators’ fare seen to double the value created by ‘Technology 18 November, 2019 www.dgindia.com Creators’. This Revenue Multiplier effect also helps ‘explain why S&P 500 has seen a significant drop in the number of top valued firms whose business model relies primarily on physical assets and human services. A Deloitte analysis indicates that in 1975 the average proportion of tangible assets to intangible assets of S&P 500 companies was 83 percent: 17 percent which has. reversed by 2015. The success of ‘Network Orchestrator’ type of companies is underpinned to the solidity of the network itself Contractors, dealers and third-party workers are fast becoming a permanent fixture of these ‘Network Orchestrator’ companies. The advent of the gig economy land the ease of working remotely, across borders and jurisdictions, means that companies of the future will have a complex system of contractors; virtual teams; that can parachute their way in and out of organisations to aid them to be nimble, agile and ever-evolving. Even in India, the latest World Economic Forum Future of Work. India Report suggests that the workforce is trending toward independent, freelance and informal labor. It ‘was found that in the next five years, 22 percent were to replace permanent workers with contract workers in the next five years. The risk profile in this model shifts from concentration of risks in one company to more widely-spread risks ‘over multiple entities. Management of risk, therefore, also shifts from an approach of directly controlling risks to one that involves a collaborative and iterative way of wielding influence across the universe of an extended enterprise. Orchestrator model in India. Therefore, it is time organisations transform the paradigm from Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) to Extended Enterprise Risk Management (EERM). ‘* What does this mean in the context of the changing risk profile of businesses? How does Risk Management as. a practice adjust to this shift from an Asset Builder model to a Network Orchestrator model? Answers to some of these questions can be found in Deloitte Extended Enterprise Risk Management (EERM) Global Survey 2019. 70 percent of respondents indicated a moderate to high level of dependency on external entities that might include third, fourth or fifth parties. ‘Also, nearly half (47 percent) of the respondents said their organisations had experienced some sort of risk incident involving the use of external entities in the last three years. Our objective is to make our organisations better, cheaper, and faster at driving bottom line Improvement, and we can do that by leveraging ‘these third parties in a more consistent and cohesive fashion. Only 2 percent of respondents identify and monitor their entire network (i.e. the subcontractors employed by their third parties) and another 8 percent do so for their most critical relationships. 90 percent lack the required ongoing focus. Information security at 68 percent and data privacy at 62 percent are prioritised DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication a risks that get the most attention under EERM. There are usually dozens of risks that may affect ‘organisations, but the key is to identify those risks that are the most important to you, and then create some measure to efficiently understand them and how they might impact your organisation. Extended Enterprise Risk also relates to culture risk because organisations should promulgate a culture across their entire ecosystem in which people own, understand, and manage risk. And this needs to extend to the universe of contractors, and outsourced teams that are working as part of your business or supply chain. Indeed, in today’s digitally interconnected world, business ecosystems, especially for Network Orchestrators, are growing bigger and more complex than ever before — which gives rise to extended enterprise risks stemming from external parties’ actions. Virtually every aspect of an organisation is vulnerable to ‘extended enterprise risk, and as organisations continue to evolve toward more complex ecosystems, these risks wil ikely only grow. Yet, while this is widely acknowledged, Extended Enterprise Risk management practices have remained relatively immature. Organisations of the future will need to amalgamate their various approaches to truly drive value, understand risks better, and have an ecosystem that performs like a symphony to drive better results. But for most of enterprises that are already busy with growing the business amid tight budgets and deadlines, they hardly have time to map out a successful digital strategy. The burden is placed onto their data ops teams, who, unfortunately, spend the majority of their time discovering and prepping unstructured data. Unstructured Data It is the unstructured data which makes up about 80 percent of all data in the world. Why? That's because unstructured data on the cloud Is often misaligned. For example, someone may have entered the letter “o” instead of a zero on a spreadsheet, cut off part of a social security number when making a 20| November, 2019 www.dgindia.com copy. Mergers and acquisitions can generate duplicate or contlicting sets of data. Furthermore, new data is coming in at breakneck speed, ‘on top of the mountains of legacy data that have existed prior to going digital. Such data is confusing and can lead to inaccurate interpretations. Yet, someone needs to do prep and administer the data. If not, the data sits in storage unused - a waste of precious resources and storage space. Companies then find themselves in a tough spot ~ sorting all that data out is an excruciating task that takes way too long, but is a necessary mission for companies to embark on. The solution to understanding and deriving intelligent ‘observations from data boils down to the basics of searching and cataloguing it. It all starts by extracting a humble piece of information called metadata. What is metadata? ‘To put it simply, metadata is data about data. It provides a A CyberMedia Publication| DATAQUEST DATA | STRATEGY CALLED METADATA a THE SOLUTION TO UNDERSTANDING AND DERIVING INTELLIGENT OBSERVATIONS FROM DATA BOILS DOWN TO THE BASICS OF SEARCHING AND CATALOGUING IT. IT ALL STARTS BY EXTRACTING A HUMBLE PIECE OF INFORMATION — Matthew Hardman, Director, Data Intelligence, Asia Pacific, Hitachi Vantara structured way to understand the information that is being presented. When ingested and aggregated in a content intelligence platform, metadata churns out insights and observations in less than six minutes, as compared with manually processing it, which can take days, weeks to even years. Just as important is enabling your data administrators to ‘manipulate and explore the data easily and quickly, so he or she can delegate more time to higher-level tasks. For example: you may have tens of thousands of pictures in your smartphone. So how do you sort them out? ‘common piece of metadata that can be exposed from data is GPS co-ordinates. You don't see the co-ordinates on the picture itself, but they are embedded in the file. With that information, applications that understand metadata ‘can expose that and offer incremental features such as the ability to sort your photos by a location. This makes it so much easier to organize all that data in to logical ‘groupings, instead of just a mess of images. Metadata ends itself to important functions within organisations, for them to carry out their operations quickly and effectively in an ultimate goal to serve their customers better. If there Js no metadata, we will have an incredible challenge in finding the specific data point they are looking for. For instance, a medical imaging application has over 10,000 brain scans. If you wanted to group the scans based on location or age, you would have to manually trace back every scan to its original location, or back to the person the scan was taken from. Understanding metadata means searching for relevant Information takes just seconds, compared with the days ‘or months required in manual processing of data. And when it comes to healthcare and medical research, the vast increase in the time taken means all the difference between life and death. DATAQUEST | A CyberMedia Publication Why Content Intelligence Platforms? Metadata by itself is worthless unti it is picked up, and the fastest and easiest way to do it is through a content intelligence platform. The platform detects metadata, and is the first step to organising unstructured data. Content intelligence platforms provides an engine which enables data administrators to understand, index and take action on massive amounts of unstructured data in ‘centralised hub. Think of it as the Google of unstructured data. Content inteligence is a framework that allows you to search for information by turning data into something extremely ‘searchable. The key to how content intelligence works is through metadata, Metadata serves as clues to finding the piece of data you need. It is also the key to sorting Unstructured data in a way where it makes sense and Unlocks value. Content intelligence doesn't just sort unstructured data - it also serves as the data administrator's right hand man, by providing guided data exploration, data recommendations, as well as immediate visibility of all data by opening up access across disparate locations and data types. It also enables personalization and protection, by delivering the right data to the right person, to ensure ata doesn't end up in the wrong hands. But we need to build the sensitivity towards security. Employees use laptops and after some years, the data is deleted when a new laptop is used. We had an interaction with Lakshmi Mittra, Head, Clover Academy on this issue \ IT RETHINKING TRAINING 34| November, 2019 www.dgindia.com A CyberMedia Publication! DATAQUEST hat are your views regarding training of technology graduates? Skill gap in the IT services industry Is an extensively discussed topic. However, there hhas been very little focus on building an ecosystem for fresh talent to thrive and metamorphose into professionals with deep knowledge of technology, domains and project management. ‘The attainment of this objective requires a series of focused steps such as classroom teaching, mentorship, engagement and collaboration. Hence, we at Clover Infotech have created ‘Clover Academy’ to leverage technical tools and classroom training to transform young talent into wel-learnt and informed project managers. The students can learn from the industry about the required IT skills, but the IT industry professionals who are already in jobs also need to constantly reskill themselves and learn from the technological institutions. Hence, would you say that this is a ‘mutually beneficial process? | firmly believe that all knowledge and training should be a journey and not a one-month crash course. The exposure that they gain across technology, domain, and communication skills is unique land enriching. Many of our trainees have become project leaders and managers and are managing service delivery excellence as well as profitability for us. This continuous demand for reskilling occurs because the industry gets the new technology from foreign countries, which are innovating at a much faster pace the training being given in India. Can the technology be evolved in the Indian institutions themselves, so that they can meet the demands of the industry faster? To become innovation hubs, educational institutions need to embrace communication, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity. The rate at which technology is advancing and market dynamics are changing, incessant leaming has emerged as the mantra for success. And not just continuous learning but unlearning of old ways is also extremely critical to keep the knowledge relevant. I you think about an Al machine, itis designed to analyse and interpret data and then solve the problem Or address the issue based on those interpretations. With ML, the computer learns once how to act or react to a certain result and knows in the future to act in the same way. As mentioned by Thierry Breton, Chairman & CEO, Atos SE, France, today the human intelligence alone is no longer enough to understand and explore the deluge of data we are witnessing. Of course, with digital disruptions, we are able to acquire datasets needed for Al algorithms. If not available, then we try new methods like transfer learning etc. Sometimes we are continuously pushed with huge mammoth of data, would that mean the Al model will work perfectly? Yes and No. However, my experience says, ‘adding more data’ will not magically improve the performance of Al model. The focus should bbe on ‘adding more information’. Please elaborate The distinction between ‘adding data’ and ‘adding information’ is crucial. By blindly adding more and more data, we encounter the risk of adding data that contain misinformation that can accordingly downgrade the performance of our models, will add bias effect. With the abundant access of data, as well as the computing power to process it, this becomes increasingly important to consider, What is the formula then, if any, for Al to really take off to its real potential? This data growth is the fuel of the Al revolution; but three conditions must be met for companies to fully embrace it. First, they need to identify the situations and use cases where Al makes the most sense and brings the greatest value. Second, they need to have access to the ‘computing power that can process and explore these massive amounts of data. And third, they need to be sure that they can manage their data securely. With experience executing Al projects, | believe topmost bottleneck that are holding back Al are these: Company cculture which does not recognize need of Al and lack of data and data quality issues (Choose quality over quantity). Note that data scientists find themselves in situation where a large amount of data they collect is of terrible quality. Then there are infrastructure challenges, ‘considering the computational horsepower required to drive the Al and ML models and their supporting I, it can, ‘and does, require a significant technology underpinning to make it work. You can't just run them on a small execution server, The larger the data sets get, the more complex the use cases get, the more compute is required, especially i ‘you want to do Al in real time. Do any ing factors beyond the technology part matter as well? ‘The main ones are - difficulties in finding the business use ‘cases which could benefit the organisation/clients; data privacy; bias and skills. Let us not forget that the other reason cloud makes sense Is because of the data that’s, core to Al and ML. When we bring up data, we also have data sovereignty to deal with. Bias is a notable factor too. If the data on which Al is trained has bias, Al also behaves in similar way. Here is how an organisation tackles this issue he final and inconclusive proof of the disease is tissue biopsy, a relatively painful process. In certain cases, the tumour is not accessible or the patient is very weak for biopsy. How then do the canoncologists confirm the presence of cancer? Cancer is a dreaded term in most families. Across the globe, annually about 6 milion people die of cancer. In USA alone, every year about 40,000 women die of breast cancer. Mammograms are the best test, yet they often produce false positives, which can warrant unwanted biopsies and surgeries. So called, “high-risk” lesions have abnormal cells and patients are advised surgery. ‘About 90% of the time, the lesion is benign and surgery is an expensive and painful wasted exercise. The final and inconclusive proof of the disease is tissue biopsy, a relatively painful process. In certain cases, the tumour is not accessible or the patient is very weak for biopsy. How then do canoncologists confirm the presence of cancer? 60 | November, 2019 woman The Research The research related to cancer is predominantly on two major fronts - 1) to find drugs and ways to treat cancer and 2) to detect cancer at a very early stage where the chances of recovery and remission are high. Typically, people suspect cancer as the cause only when it manifests in some obvious and visible form. Nevertheless, often by then, the disease has progressed to an advanced stage = a stage beyond treatment. Can doctors detect them very early even before the person feels any symptoms? By detecting early, doctors can treat and save many lives land spare many people of anxiety and agony. Can a simple blood test predict, detect and confirm the presence of cancer? Yes, for a few types of cancers it is possible. Colorectal Cancer (CRC) is one for which a biood test is available, Testing the blood for the presence of tumour cells and DNA is a non-invasive approach ‘compared to the invasive biopsy, which is a surgery. ‘A CyberMedia Publication) DATAQUEST ‘The concept behind itis as follows. Dying cancer cells shed DNA into a person's blood and these are called Circulating DNA or ctONA. They can act as a non-invasive cancer biomarker. The amount of cDNA is very small compared to the amount of healthy DNA in the blood. Nevertheless, if we can develop methods to detect this tiny amount, then identification of cancer at a very early stage is possible. Using a technique called high- intensity or ultrafast or next generation sequencing, fast computers and powerful software together, geneticists decode millions of these short strands of DNA in the blood. The software compares the results with the map of human genome and when it detects specific patterns of rearranged DNA, it identifies the presence of cancer. Today, this process is expensive because the machines cost upwards of a US $ one milion per piece. However, with time, the machines will shrink in size and the test will become affordable, This process of using blood to detect cancer is called as liquid biopsy. Dr. Dennis Lo of The Chinese University (of Hong Kong (CUHK) pioneered this technique in 1997, which led to a safe test for detecting Downs Syndrome in the foetus by testing the pregnant mother’s blood. He is conducting a study of 20,000 people in Hong-Kong to check if nasopharyngeal carcinoma can be detected using liquid biopsy. The Epstein-Barr virus causes this rare form of cancer and is common among men in Hong Kong and ‘South China, Dr. Lo has tested more than 10000 men, picked up 17 cases of cancer, 13 of which in stage 1 - a curable stage, Recently, scientists from Edith Cowan University in Australia have developed a blood test to detect melanoma. They conducted a pilot study on a small group of people and the test detected early stage melanoma in 78% of the cases. Currently, melanoma is detected by the naked eye followed by a tissue biopsy. The process needs only about 5 mi of blood, which is “spun down” to yield 2 mi of plasma, which is then analysed for tumour DNA and checked for mutations, chemical variations of the genetic strands, the size of the fragments, or a combination of these. Techniques are also available to detect ctDNA in urine and cerebrospinal fui. It has raised US $ 1.1 billion from private investors and venture capitalists. It has a large number of ultrafast DNA sequencing machines each costing about a US $ 1 million. The company collects about 1000 GB of raw data from each patient’s blood sample. Along with this
