1. Do you agree with the goals of Republic Act 1425? Why or Why not?

Jose Rizal, in full Jose Protasio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda, born June 19, 1861, Calamba,
Philippines—died December 30, 1896, Manila, patriot, physician, and man of letters who was an
inspiration to the Philippine nationalist movement. He was executed by the Spanish colonial
government for the crime of rebellion after the Philippine Revolution, inspired in part by his writings,
broke out. Though he was not actively involved in its planning or conduct, he ultimately approved of its
goals which eventually led to Philippine independence. Jose Rizal became the Philippine national hero
because he fought for freedom in a silent but powerful way. He expressed his love for the Philippines
through his novels, essays and articles rather than through the use of force or aggression. He was a very
amazing person at his time.

I agree with the goals of Republic Act 1425, because this law will give us the idea of who is Rizal
and about his works. We all know that Rizal is our national hero but a lot of students doesn't know how
great he was. This law will take us to Rizal closer to be able to understand his sacrifices to our country to
be independent. His works inspired the Filipinos on that time to still fight and find the happiness in their
heart even in the situations they have. The law will also make the students to love our country more, it
is because we will be more educated about the past and acknowledge Rizal as our hero. We can also
have the knowledge about his works like El Filibusterismo and Noli Me Tangere because this is one of
the goals of the law. It was said that It shall be obligatory on all schools, colleges and universities to keep
in their libraries an adequate number of copies of the original and unexpurgated editions of the Noli Me
Tangere and El Filibusterismo, as well as of Rizal’s other works and biography. Thats why I really agree
with this law.
