BSBA FM 2-2
Example: Team A is the one who will serve first and if the shuttlecock falls to the right side of their
opponents, it means INSIDE or team A will get the first score. After the receiver or Team B retrieve the
serve of Team A they can hit the shuttle towards anywhere within the court of Team B.
The badminton scoring system is commonly known as the 21 points system or the New Rules.
Since the score is 0 which is an even number, the player will serve from the RIGHT side of the court.
Scenario 1:
Let's say Team A win the first rally and received 1 point. Since they have been serving and haven’t lost a
rally, they will continue to serve. And since 1 is an ODD number, Player 1 (A) should move to the left-
hand side of the court to serve.
Scenario 2:
If Team A loses the first rally, and Team B received 1 point and the score of Team A remains at 0. Since
they have lost the rally, it's Service Over them. Team B will serve for the next rally.
Let's assume that Player 1 (A) and player 2 (A) win the next rally, they will serve for the next rally. The
score now is tied at 1-1. Since 1 is an ODD number, the service must be delivered from the left-hand side
of the court.
Remember that Player 1 (A) had a ‘service over' during the last rally. So, it's player 2 (A) turn to serve
from the left side (Player 2 (A) move to the left side and deliver the service).
DOUBLE HIT:
Each side has only ONE attempt to retrieve the shuttle. So it's either Player 1 (A) or Player 2 (A) is going
to hit it. Even if one of them accidentally touch the shuttle with the racket, and it hits once again, it's still
a fault.
Let's say Player 1 (A) is the receiver for a particular rally, only P1 (A) can return his opponent's serve.
Player 2 (A) cannot return the serve on his behalf.
