NURSING CARE

Inability to provide adequate nursing care to the sick, disabled, dependent or vulnerable/at-risk member
of the family due to:

A. Lack of/inadequate knowledge about the disease/health condition:

-Mr. Light does not bare any idea what his disease or health condition is and also lacks
knowledge as to where he will seek help, therefore he is unable to provide himself with
adequate care.
B. Lack of/inadequate knowledge of the nature and extent of nursing care needed
-Mrs. Light was not aware of the pre-natal check-up service. She also believes that having a
normal delivery of childbirth is hereditary. She does not have adequate knowledge on the
importance of pre-natal care and assessment during her pregnancy.
-Mr. and Mrs. Light believes that Moon’s symptoms will be alleviated as he has taken
medication and a decoction. They believe it is no longer needed to have him checked with a
physician. Moon is not given adequate care because of the lack of knowledge of his parents on
the extent of care he needs to be given.
C. Inadequate family resources for care, specifically
a. Financial constraints
-Mr. Light chooses to work instead of taking the time to get a check-up, in order to earn
more money.
-Mrs. Light never had a pre-nata check up before due to inadequate financial resources.
D. Philosophy in life which negates/hinder caring for the sick, disabled, dependent,
vulnerable/at-risk member
- they believe that they do not need any improvements or interventions done because they
believe they deserve that situation through God’s plan. Their belief that their situation is
destined upon them contributes to their inability to provide nursing care because it inhibits
them from seeking help and actively improving their health issues.
E. Member’s preoccupation with own concerns/interests
-Mr. Light is more concerned with his interest in drinking and smoking as he reports feels
weakened when he does not engage in these activities which keeps him from improving his
health.
-Mr. Light is also preoccupied and more focused with work in order to earn more money due to
their financial constraints. This also prevents him from receiving adequate care.
