PICTURE OUT THE SCENARIO!
 I will give short scenario.
 You are going to picture out through your imagination and think what is happening
in the scenario.
 Prepare yourself for a few questions.

SCENARIO # 1
A mother leaving the house for work gives instructions to the eldest child on how to
manage the household chores.

SCENARIO # 2

A class adviser who will take a maternity leave instructs her advisory class to behave at
all times.

QUESTIONS:

 What instructions were given in the first scenario?

 What instructions were given in the second scenario?

 How important following instructions in terms of doing or accomplishing a task?

EVALUATING OPINIONS

Evaluating Opinions is like examining an argument.

But how?

 Reading and Examining Arguments Effectively

1. Read once for an initial impression.

2. Read the argument several more times; identify the claim and support.

3. Annotate as you read–record your thoughts.

4. Highlight key terms; look up familiar words.

5. Draw a diagram or map to analyze the structure (how details relate to one
another).

6. Put it in a long size of bond paper with 1 inch margin each side.

ACTIVITY 2

 Read an article on the newspaper about evaluating opinions.

 Cut out the article and paste it on a short bond paper.

 Explain the article and write your evaluating opinions about the article in 3
paragraphs (10 sentences each)

 Write it in a long size of bond paper.

PERFORMANCE TASK:
 How would you apply your knowledge on evaluating arguments in your daily
lives?

 In what particular situations do you seem it useful?

Based on your output about the following statement, I want you to read and
examine it.
