MANLIFT GROVE. UPPER CONTROLS AND INDICATORS NOTE The following paragraphs describe controls and indicators located on the upper controls. The numbers in ( ) represent index numbers from the fig- ure titled Upper Controls. NOTE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT (APU) func- tion is interlocked with all motion commands through the full throttle circuit. This means activating the ‘AUXILIARY POWER UNIT switch (17) alone does not start the APU motor. Activating the APU switch and a motion command is required. EMERGENCY STOP SWITCH On ‘The EMERGENCY STOP switch (1) is located on the left side of the upper controls. Push in on the switch to: + Remove all electrical power from controls. + Stop engine and all work platform functions. Pull out on the switch before resuming starting operation. START SWITCH ‘The push-button START switch (2) is located on the left side of the upper con- trols. Pushing the switch activates the starter relay and starts the engine. The lower controls IGNITION switch must be in the ON position and the EMER- GENCY STOP switch must be pulled up to supply ek trical power to the upper controls. NOTE The FOOT SWITCH must not be depressed to start the machine. NOTE When starting the machine all LED's. {light emitting diodes) will turn ON for 2 seconds to verify they are working. NOTE If engine speed sensor signal is not detected 5 seconds after start sequence, the engine will be turned off. HORN SWITCH ‘The push-button HORN switch (3) is located on the left side of the upper controls. Push the switch to sound the hor located on the right side of the tumtable in the manifold com ment. The LED is illuminated red when the work platform is 3° out of level. LIFT CONTROLLER ‘The LIFT controller (8) is = located on the top left side of the upper controls. Position the controller to either the UP or DOWN position to raise or lower the BOOM, RISER, or JIB at a proportional speed, as selected by the LIFT SELECT switch at a speed selected by the FUNC- TION SPEED toggle switch, + LIFT UP —Pull LIFT controller toward operator. + LIFT DOWN ~ Push LIFT controller away from operator. The THUMB STEER switch (1D) is located on top of the controller. + Position the con- troller forward (away fromthe operator) to. Push the right side of the ‘THUMB STEER switch to’steer to the right. SWING CONTROLLER ‘The SWING controller (12) is Jocated on the top right side of the upper controls. Position the controller to either the LEFT or RIGHT position i i to swing the superstructure at a proportional speed throughout each preset range as selected by the FUNCTION SPEED toggle switch. + SWING LEFT ~ Position SWING controller to the lef + SWING RIGHT — Position SWING controller right. THROTTLE SPEED SWITCH The THROTTLE SPEED switch (13) is located on the right side of the upper controls. + Position the switch 10 the left to LOW. The engine will run at low speed when a function <> g is selected. * Position the switch to the right to HIGH, engine will run at high rpm when a function i selected, NOTE HIGH Is automatically selected when using the STEER function. FUNCTION SPEED SWITCH The FUNCTION SPEED switch (14) is located on the upper right side of the upper controls and controls the speed of the drive motors and function speed range. + Position the switch to the left to LOW. Push and hold the switch and activate a motion command to start the motor-driven pump and allow emer- gency operation of the desired function. Operating time will depend on the condition of the battery. ENGINE RUN LED ‘The ENGINE RUN LED (18) is located on the right side of the upper controls. This yellow indicator light illuminates when the engine is running. If engine speed sensor signal is not detected 5 seconds afier start sequence the engine will be turned off and indi- ator will not be illuminated. POWER ENABLE LED ‘The POWER ENABLE LED G9) is located on the lower right side of the upper controls. @ ‘This green indicator light illu- par, S-5¢1,007, minates to show that the ENABLE feature has been acti- vated. Refer to the foot switch description in this section for more information on the ENABLE feature, GENERATOR SWITCH (OPTIONAL) NOTE Engine must be running for the gener- ator to operate. The GENERATOR switeh (20) is a two-position switch. located on the right side panel of the upper controls. Position the switch to ON to activate the hydraulic motor that runs the generator. Posi- tion the switch to BACKUP to illuminate the backup lights on the rear of the tumtable. FOOT SWITCH The FOOT SWITCH (23) is located on the platform floor below the ‘upper controls. It is a green LED that, when illumi- nated, indicates the riser is in @ position which will allow the riser to operate. Position the switch to the LEFT or RIGHT position to rotate the platform in the desired direction fo a maximum of 90° from the center position, LUFT SWITCH ‘The LIFT switch (6) is located on the right side of the lower controls. Position the switch to either UP or DOWN to raise or lower the boom, riser, or jib, as selected by the LIFT SELECT switeh, LIFT SELECT SWITCH ‘The LIFT SELECT switch (7) is located in the center of the lower controls, Use thi three-position switch, in conjunction with the LIFT switch, to raise or lower the jib, boom, or riser. THE OFFICIAL FUNCTION OF THE APU IS TO PRO- VIDE AN AUXILIARY MEANS OF LOWERING, RETRACTING, AND LEV. ‘The TELESCOPE, SELECT switch (9). is located in the lower center of the lower controls. Use this two-position switch, in conjunction with the TELESCOPE switch, to extend or retract the boom tum the switch to BOOM, ELING THE WORK PLATFORM IN THE EVENT OF PRIMARY POWER LOSS. ALTHOUGH OTHER FUNCTIONS CAN BE SELECTED, THE APU SWITCH SHOULD ONLY BE USED FOR THE FUNCTIONS LISTED ABOVE, NOTE AUXILIARY POWER UNIT (APU) funo- tion selection Is interlocked with the motion commands activated by switches on the lower contro! box. NOTE Operate the AUXILIARY POWER UNIT switch from the lower controls with the EMERGENCY STOP switch up and the IGNITION switch in the ON pesition. NOTE APU is disabled if the engine is run- ning. FRONT JACK CYLINDER CONTROL LEVER The front JACK cylinder control lever (5) is located on the right side of the axle contiol panel. The switch has two placarded positions; OFF and ON. When in the OFF position, all DC electrical power to the plat- form upper controls and Jower controls is disconnected. NOTE ‘The engine should be turned off. FIRE EXTINGUISHER (OPTIONAL) 'A fire extinguisher is installed in the tumtable weldment. MOTIONENGINE DISTRESS ALARM ‘These alarms, located in the engine compartment, will sound if: + The engine is stated. + Any function is activated. + The PLATFORM CONTROLS/GROUND CON- ‘TROLS SELECTOR switch is positioned to GROUND CONTROLS. (@| © HORNENGINE DISTRESS ALARM MOTION ALAR ‘The alarms are also activated by either the engine oil pressure switch or the engine temperature switch or a combination of the two. + The oil pressure switeh indicates when press falls below 110.3 kPa/I.103 bar (16 psi) for els equipped with the Cummins engine. + The temperature switch indicates when the perature tises above 102:1° C (21522° F) on ‘Cummins engine. TILT ALARM SENSOR YELLOW LED RED LED GREEN LED ‘The tilt alarm sensor is located on the left side of ‘work platfonm in the valve compartment. When the ¥ platform's power is first turned on, the tlt sensor ca the tilt alarm buzzer to chirp. This test makes sure thy sensor is functional. if, during operation, the angle of the work plat reaches 3° off horizontal, the tlt sensor will: + Cause the tilt buzzer located in the platform trols to chirp. + Tluminate the red tilt alarm LED located 0 top left side of the platform controls. + Cause the telescope out and lift up funetic stop working. Telescope in and lift down tions will continue to operate to allow the platform to be moved to a stable operating tion, trip point, and after a two-second dolay, the tilt alarin buzzer will sound. ‘The work platform is in an unstable condition when the tilt alarm activates. Do not perform any functions except those necessary to safely relocate the work platform until the work platform is on level ground, ‘The tilt alarm will only function when the ground controls IGNITION switch is in the ON position. 2447
