LASTRA, JAY MARK F.

-Task #4

1. The Balance of Assessment. The majority of assessment should be assessment for and
as learning. They focus on students’ strengths and needs and the data is used to guide
instruction. Assessment as Learning is a part of a three-part assessment model
recommended for use in classrooms. the traditional assessment model utilizing
predominantly Assessment of Learning to report progress and compare students should
be replaced by a balanced model including all three of the types of assessments.
Figures 3.1 and 3.2 below demonstrate Earl's suggested balance for the three types of
assessment: Assessment as Learning, Assessment of Learning and Assessment for
Learning.
2. These are the sample tasks being used in our school such as essay, group work or
activities, journals and etc. These tasks designed as the three forms of assessment
because they are designed to provide an estimate of students’ level of learning, and
schools use them to serve a diagnostic function, such as to predict how well students will
do on the end-of-year tests.
