“How can your personality and
passions influence the direction you
take in your nursing career?”
Why Did I Choose This Question
This Research Will Benefit My Future

nursing specialties
About My Project
I interviewed
some nurse that I
Trying to connect know
different nursing paths
with people’s personality Researched lots
traits and interests of different
nursing
specialties
Some Nursing Specialties I
was considering
Pediatric Nursing
Pediatric nursing is the medical care for children from birth
through their late teens. A paediatric nurse usually works in
hospitals or day-clinics. These nurses provide expert care to the
child while also working with the family to address their
concerns, fears, problems, and options. They serve as a child
advocate and participate in activities to manage a child's pain.
Pediatric Nursing
This is a specialty
that I have really
considered doing.
This is one of my
top choices.
Military Nursing
Military nurses serve in most major branches of the military,
including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. They provide direct
patient care for servicemembers and their families, perform
medical duties for wounded soldiers, and may pursue the
same areas of practice specialization that nurses in civilian
roles would.
Military Nursing
This specialty isn’t
one that I was really
considering pursuing,
but I was really
interested in learning
more about it.
Travel Nurse
Travel Nurses are healthcare workers who travel to patients
and assist at healthcare facilities. They perform typical
nursing duties and provide care in residential areas, at
schools, and other organizations. Typically, travel nurses
work short-term assignments, they are often sent to places
where their specialties and skills are in demand. Travel
Nurses also assist when hospitals are short-staffed.
Travel Nurse
I think being a travel
nurse would be
super fun. I would
get to travel around
the world doing my
job.
Labor & Delivery Nurses
Perinatal Nurses
Labor and delivery nurses assist pregnant women throughout the
childbirth experience, from early labor through delivery and the
immediate postpartum period. Labor and delivery nurses coach
mothers through difficult contractions, offering encouragement and
advice on pain management. Perinatal nurses take care of patients
before during and after pregnancy. Perinatal nurses do the same as
a labor and delivery nurse during the delivery, but they also take
care of women during their pregnancy and after the childbirth.
Labor & Delivery/ Perinatal
I think that both of
these would be really
interesting and fun
specialties that I’m
definitely considering. If
I was to choose
between the two, I think
I would prefer perinatal.
Scrub Nurse
A scrub nurse, also known as an OR nurse is a nursing
professional who works alongside surgeons and other
surgical staff. Scrub nurses use their expertise and calm
demeanor to help surgeons perform surgery and sometimes
life saving operations on patients. The role of the Scrub nurse
is to assist the surgeon by passing them the instruments, it
sounds simple but it’s a lot more involved than that.
Scrub Nurse
I think being a scrub
nurse would be a
really good nursing
option for me. I would
love to be in the
operating room during
surgeries.
Correctional Nursing
Correctional nursing is a specialized field of nursing that
involves caring for the medical and mental health needs of
detainees and inmates. These nurses work in a variety of
settings such as jails, prisons, and juvenile detention centers
Correctional Nursing
This is a type of nursing
that I didn’t know about
until I started doing
research for my
capstone. I actually
think this could be a
really interesting type of
nursing that I am
considering.
Psychiatric Nursing
Psychiatric nursing or mental health nursing is the appointed
position of a nurse that specialises in mental health, and cares
for people of all ages experiencing mental illnesses or distress.
They apply the nursing process to assess, diagnose, and treat
individuals or families with psychiatric disorders and identify
risk factors for such disorders.
Psychiatric Nursing
Psychiatric nursing is a
very different type of
nursing compared to
lots of the other nursing
specialties I was looking
into. I’m not planning on
going into this career
field but I did want to do
some research on it.
