What is a copyright?
A copyright protects a
person’s creative works
like books, poems, art,
photos, videos, music,
choreography, etc.

What is fair use?
“a legal doctrine that portions
of copyrighted materials may
be used without permission of
the copyright owner provided

reasonably expected by the

Plagarism?
to steal and pass off (the
ideas or words of
another) as one's own
to use (another's
production) without
crediting the source
to commit literary theft
to present as new and
original an idea or

existing source

Acceptable Use Policy

An acceptable use policy (AUC)

can cover many different
computer uses including
internet searches, downloads,
gaming, email use, etc. 

The purpose of an AUP is to set

guidelines, teach responsible
computer use, and provide
schools with a legal form from
liability.

materials in student projects. These guidelines help guide
students into proper legal and ethical use of materials
including printed material, pictures, videos, etc.
