       Define the following concepts associated with Industrial pollution:

-          Industry

-          Air pollution

-          Water pollution

-          Land/Soil pollution

-          Noise pollution

-          Hazardous waste

-          Natural Environment

-          Built Environment

-          Environmental Degradation (as it relates to Industrial Pollution)

b.       Conduct a survey on the types of pollution prevalent at a named industry/factory. The


survey should focus on the description of the industry, causes and effects of various types of
pollution on the built and natural environment.  Findings from the survey should be submitted in
the form a Field report and must comprise the following components:

-          Background Information of the Industry

 When was the industry established?


 Nature of the Industry    

-          Methodology

 When the data was gathered?


 Where the data was gathered?
 What instrument was used to collect the data?
 Why was this instrument used?  
 Limitations that occurred during this process  

-          Presentation of Data (use appropriate tables and graphs)

·         Types of pollution

·         Causes of the pollution

·         Effects on the built and natural environment


-          Analysis and Discussion of Data (interpret the data you collected)

-          Make FOUR recommendations as to how the industry could solve or mitigate


the effects of pollution identified.

-          Conclusion (summary of your investigation)

-          Reference.

c.       Create a model that can be used to teach the concept of Industrial Pollution to your class.
What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of using models in teaching? Design a
Poster outlining the guidelines for using models when teaching.

d.       Locate and insert into your power-point presentation, a short video which would be
suitable for teaching nursery/ primary school pupils about a named form of pollution prevalent
within an industry. Explain why the video selected is appropriate for the purpose identified.
