My name is Hannah Monroe and I am a senior at UNC Chapel Hill majoring in Human

Development and Family Studies, which integrates principles of education, psychology, and

sociology. I am specifically intending to pursue my master’s degree in social work, with a focus

on working with underserved children and adolescents. I have served as an intern with GHA

Autism Supports, which enabled me to provide direct care to those on the autism spectrum and

their families. This past summer, I continued working directly and indirectly with youth and their

families as a tutor and mentor with Grow Your World, where I designed and implemented lesson

plans focusing on themes of racial equity, resilience, teamwork, and reflection. I also served as

the point of contact for all families served by Grow Your World, which gave me the opportunity

to forge personal connections with each family and to become aware of their unique strengths

and challenges. I am very interested in pursuing an internship with your organization. I will be

graduating in May and will likely be beginning graduate school in the fall. In order to hone my

interests in a specific area of social work, it would be very beneficial for me to work with those

served by your organization. I believe that my strong interpersonal skills and extensive

experience with the provision of both direct and indirect care to vulnerable populations would
