15 April 2016
Dear Susan,
I received your letter yesterday. I’m excited that you will be visiting us next
month. I had tidied my room.
We last met about a year ago and I’m sure you have grown a lot by now. I am
thinner than before. I had chickenpox last month and I couldn’t eat much. That was
why I lost some weight.
I can’t wait to see all of you again. I love Uncle Freddy’s stories and Aunt
Betty’s fried noodles. Remember to bring your teddy bear with you. The last time
when you came to stay with us, you couldn’t sleep without it !
We will be at the railway station to meet you and your parents on that day.
Dad is throwing a small party in the evening to welcome all of you. He is inviting
some of the neighbours and it’ll be a lot of fun.
That’s all for now. Lots of love from us to you.
Yours,
Alice

Sounding a little surprised, Mr Lim greeted Puan Asmah.
“Good morning, Puan Asmah. You’re early today. Usually, you’re never here
before 8.00 a.m.”
“Good morning, Mr Lim. Yes, I’m early. I’ve got a lot of cooking to do today.
My husband is inviting his manager home for lunch. I need to be home as soon as
possible to help my maid,” explained Puan Asmah.
After paying Mr Lim for the prawns and crabs, Puan Asmah walked off
hurriedly. Suddenly, she heard someone calling out to her. It was Mr Lim running
towards her. He held out a purse to her. “This must be yours, Puan Asmah. You
must have left it on the table while trying to arrange the things you bought in your
basket.”
“Oh, thank you very much, Mr Lim. I’m sorry I made you run all the way to
return it to me.”
“You’re welcome, Puan Asmah. Have a nice day.”
