Social Media in Education

Last Year on School Placement Three I was informed of the schools Home Economics department
having an Instagram page to promote pupils work done in class. I found from the outset it was an
avenue also for parents or perspective parents can view to standard of work being carried out in the
subject.

The school that I am completing placement in this year have a twitter account. I like the idea similar
to Weebly to promote students and teachers’ best pieces of work. This is a fantastic method for me
to showcase my best work and allow me to display this. On the other hand I will need to be cautious
and be careful what to post due to GDPR and child protection guidelines. On line platforms are a
good way to get inspiration from other schools. Students get a sense of pride from seeing work of
theirs on social media. Similarly when I was in school I used love seeing our work pictured in the
local paper.
