Amazing mineral structures
FOR A WIDE RANGE
OF APPLICATIONS

Zeolites are aluminosilicate crystals. Their

unique structures consist of well-defined
channels and pores. These channels make
zeolites excellent choices for a variety of
applications in catalysis and adsorption
depending upon needs.

With high surface area and porosity on the order of

THESE UNIQUE PROPERTIES OF ZEOLITES HAVE
molecular dimension, zeolites behave as molecular
ENSURED THEIR SUCCESS:
sieves, allowing small molecules to pass through, while
stopping larger molecules: useful for the adsorption of
gases and liquids. Activated ingredients impregnated
into the crystalline framework further provide an High-surface-area microporosity
environment for interesting chemistries to occur.
Chemical and physical properties of the zeolite vary by
composition (Si/Al ratio), cation (H+, NH4+, Na+, etc) or
guest metals (Fe, Cu, Pt, etc.) and structure type.
Solid-acid catalysis
For decades these microscopic structures have been
produced synthetically and tailored to industrial
process applications.
Ion-exchangeability including metals
Clariant’s range of products includes zeolite powders
and extrudates for use within the industrial processes
of petrochemicals, oil refining and chemicals,
adsorption of gases and liquids, as well as within
emission control applications, such as in catalytic Hydrophobicity
converters, and in the decomposition of NOx and N2O.
Clariant’s zeolite raw material production capabilities
include common structures such as Pentasil, Beta,
or Mordenite over a wide range of silica-to-alumina Adsorption/desorption
ratios. On demand most other common commercial
structure types can be produced.
