Below is the recipe for Vadacurry...

Ingredients needed:
Channa Dal - 1/2 cup.
Sesame oil - 220 ml.
Fennel Seeds - 2 teaspoons.
Pattai - 1.
Biriyani Leaf - 1.
Elaichi - 3.
Onion Big - 2.
Tomato - 1.
Curry leaves - 1 bunch.
Green Chillies - 3. (cut into medium size pieces)
Turmeric Powder - 1 teaspoon.
Salt - as required.

Procedure:
Soak Dal in water for atleast 3 hours. Restrain all water after dal gets soaked
well.
Take a mixer jar. add dal, 1 teaspoon Fennel Seeds. Do not add any water. Dal must
be ground coarsely.
Take a kadai and place it on flame. Add 2 kuzhi karandi oil, once it gets heated
add Fennel Seeds, Biriyani Leaf, Pattai & Elaichi and let it splutter. Add curry
leaves, onion pieces, green chillies and saute for 2 minutes.
Add tomato pieces, and saute for 2 minutes.
Add 2 cups water and turmeric powder to it.
Keep the kadai on medium flame and let it boil.

Take another kadai, and place it on flame. Add 200 ml oil, once it gets heated add
vadamaavu as small patties in kadai. Take the vadas from kadai before it turns
golden brown.
(Once it turns golden brown it will become hard, and not blend with curry.)

Now, add vada (split into pieces) into the boiling gravy. Let it boil for 5 more
minutes on medium flame. Adjust water consistency as per your taste.

Vadacurry is ready.
