To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to recommend Nicole Anderson for your consideration. I have had the pleasure of
getting to know Nicole this year as her TE802 and TE804 instructor through Michigan State
University.

Nicole is very thoughtful in her lesson preparation. She gives great consideration to what she is
teaching her classes and why it is of value. Nicole made sure throughout her placement that she
taught varied art media and techniques as well as subject matter as often as possible. She highly
values the development of a rich art curriculum and worked tirelessly to complement that of her
placement school’s existing program. This often meant bringing in outside materials, which
allowed her students’ to have experiences with art techniques not currently available to them.

Nicole is also a very reflective art educator. She is constantly assessing what is best practice for
her students and how lessons can be modified within a unit and the next time around to best suit
her students’ needs as well as that of her art program. This made Nicole a great asset in class
when we had discussions about teaching, classroom management, etc…She provided great
feedback to her classmates regarding her insights into what they were sharing as well as opening
up about her own struggles as a new educator striving to continually grow throughout her
internship year.

I have every confidence that Nicole will be a valued addition to whatever teaching staff she
becomes a part of. I believe that she will continue to grow and become even more effective as an
art educator throughout her career. Please feel free to contact me for more information at
