• The first ever confirmed case of COVID-19 in Australia was on January 25, 2020.
• The patient came from Wuhan and flew to Melbourne on January 19
• According to the first report of epidemiology in Australia, dated January 25 to February 1. 2020, there were twelve
confirmed cases of 2019-nCOV infection.
• All the twelve confirmed cases reported in Australia had travel history to China, and 11 of them had a travel history
to Wuhan, China.
• The median age of cases was 45 (range 21–66) years.
• Zero casualties were reported on the first week of the epidemiology report.

• On this fortnight report, 278 confirmed cases were reported.
• 82% of all COVID-19 cases for the period (229/278) were reported in Victoria, with smaller numbers of cases reported from New South
Wales (32), Western Australia (9), Queensland (6) and South Australia (2).
• The national rate of infection in locally-acquired cases in the current reporting period was 0.9 cases per 100,000 population
• A total of 8 deaths were reported from cases diagnosed in this reporting period, all of whom were >75 years old, and all from Victoria.
