Instruction to Candidates: As a draftsman you are required to design a three (3) bedroom domestic dwelling
building to meet the following requirements:
 3 bedroom including of a master bedroom
 3 bathroom
 1 kitchen
 1 living room
 1 dining
 1 veranda/patio
 Single car garage

 CANDIDATES CAN USE THEIR OWN INITITIVE TO ADD TO THEIR DESIGN TO GET FURTHER
ROOM; EXAMPLE: STOREROOM OR A WASH ROOM!

The following sets or drawing should be done:

 Deign Sketch of building
 Floor plan 1:50
 Foundation plan 1:50
 Roof plan 1:50
 Elevation ( Front & 1 other side) 1:50
 Sectional elevation 1:50
 Footing details(through to eave)

 USING APPROPRIATE LIMITS, LAYERS, TEXT STYLE, DIMENSION STYLE, AND MULTI-LEADER
STYLE COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING.
 N.B ALL DRAWING MUST BE PROPERLY LABELED AND PROPERLY DIMENSION WITH
SCALE DRAWN IN.

 N.B DESIGN PRINCIPLES MUST BE TAKEN IN CONDITION AND APPLIED WHEN

CARRYING OUT YOUR DESIGN, MINIMUM SPACE FOR ROOMS AND LIVING SPACES
SHOULD BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION.
 IN ADDITION THEIR MUST BE A BUSINESS PLAN TO ENCOMPASS THE DESIGN
JUSTIFICATION AND CONDITION.

SECTION 1
FUNDAMENTALS OF TECHNICAL DRAWING
2020/2021

In this section candidates are required to do their written pieces in the form of research, assignment pieces are
expected to be typed and will be a part of their portfolio for their final SBA assignment.
Assignment should be typed in Times New Romans, Font Size (12), ingle line spacing and printed for
submission.
N.B. COMPLETED ASSINGNMENT SHOULD INCLUDE A TABLE OF CONTENTS AND A REFRENCE
LIST.
Assignment pieces are list as follows:
 Assignment #1 Hazards and hazardous substances
 Assignment #2 Drawing tools and equipments
 Assignment #3 Fire and fire fighting equipment
 Assignment #4 lines, conventions and codes
 Assignment #5 Site visit and site report

Assignment #1
1. Define the term hazard?
a. What is meant by the term hazardous substance?
b. List five (5) types of hazards that could be associated to the Drawing Room/lab.
2. Design/print at least five (5) hazard signs that you might see in a Technical Drawing room/lab and by
extension a Mechanical, Electrical or Building and Furniture lab.
3. What is Material Safety Data Sheet?
a. What information is on the MSDS?
b. Why is MSDS important?
c. Include a sample of the MSDS that would be appropriate to any one of the three (3) labs of
Industrial Technology; Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical & Electronics Technology
or Building and Furniture Technology.
4. What precautions must be taken when storing materials and supplies safely in the lab?
5. Complete a accident report from a possible accident that has acquired in the Technical Drawing Lab.

Assignment #2
1. List at least seven (7) tools and equipment that are used in the Technical Drawing lab?
2. Tell how doing Technical Drawing in a modern lab using computer is different from the traditional
method?
3. Briefly describe how we can care for our tools and equipment used in Technical Drawing.
4. Briefly describe what is required to run and operate a modern day Technical drawing lab?
Assignment #3
1. State what the four (4) different class of fire A, B, C & D are and how they are caused?
2. List five (5) fire fighting equipment that are used in fighting fire and the proper approach in fighting
each class?

Assignment #4
1. List and describe the different type of lines that are used in Technical drawing (use of pictures must be
accompanied with each type of lines).
2. State the different type of lines that are used with different types of drawings in Technical Drawing? Eg.
Must be shown
3. What is meant by the term line convention and code?
4. What is the correct way to do lettering & numbering in Technical Drawing?
5. What is the correct way to do dimension and dimensioning for drawings in Technical Drawing?
6. State the different types of dimensioning used in Technical Drawing?

Assignment #5
Students will be required to conduct a site visit and make the following report:
1. Site report
2. Accident report
3. Identify possible hazard on the site if any and make proper precaution measures in eliminating the
hazard.
