Summary of the The students were introduced to the SIOP concepts of Interaction and
Lesson Practice and Application through a series of PowerPoint slides, videos,
discussions, and a final Kahoot.

implement the SIOP model into their curriculum and or ways

Materials Required 1. PowerPoint Presentation
  2. Kahoot

Procedure BEFORE:
Anticipatory Set
1. The students were lectured through a PowerPoint presentation
that allowed them to learn more or learn concepts of the
Interaction, Practice and Application part of the SIOP model. 

2. Preview Objectives: Our objectives for the lesson are: (teacher


points to board and reads aloud) 1. Identify methods that
promote student interaction. 2. Identify the importance of
practice and application activities.

DURING:
Teacher Modeling
1. The teachers co-taught a lesson on the SIOP model for students
to better understand the interaction, practice and application
process of the SIOP model. The teachers used a PowerPoint
presentation as a visual background for students to follow
along as the teachers talked through the presentation and
prompted discussions. 

Checking for Understanding


1. The students were asked questions throughout the presentation
as a formative assessment. The students also demonstrated an
activity used in the SIOP model; “Dinner Party”. The students
then were asked to participate in a Kahoot game that
summarized the lesson with important questions to display
their understanding of SIOP Interaction and Practice and
Application.

AFTER:
Closure
1. Today the students learned about the Interaction, Practice and
Application part of the SIOP model. 

Formative 1. The students will complete a Kahoot consisting of questions


Assessment that are applicable to the lesson. We will be able to see who got
what questions wrong, allowing us to assess the student’s
knowledge. Additionally, through the multiple discussions that
are incorporated throughout the lesson we can assess who
volunteers and responds appropriately.  

Student Resources 1. Students will be provided with the PowerPoint presentation for
  their own viewing. 
2. Making content comprehensible for English learners: The
SIOP Model by Echevarria, J., Vogt, M., & Short, D.

Accommodations The teacher will walk around and help any student that needs extra
assistance while completing the assignments. The teacher will also
stand next to the students who need frequent reminders to stay on
task.
