Dear Ms. Hiring Manager

As a newly graduated Registered Nurse of the University of Arizona College of Nursing

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, I was delighted to see this opportunity to occupy
an esteemed position in the New Graduate RN ICU Residency Program. As a highly motivated
and compassionate new graduate, I’m seeking a position in an intensive care unit where I can
utilize and further develop my professional nursing education skill set, diverse clinical
experience, and employ my background in leadership and challenging positions to provide the
best patient-centered care. This position offers an outstanding opportunity to begin my career
in a dynamic and supportive health care system.

I intend to launch my career as a nurse working in the intensive care unit in order to strengthen
and nourish my critical care nursing skills. I currently work on an adult medical-surgical
oncology telemetry unit as a patient care technician. This role has given me valuable insight and
experience using evidenced-based practice to guide direct patient care, along with an
awareness of the needs of patients, nurses, and interdisciplinary staff. I pride myself on the
organizational skills, time-management, and therapeutic presence I have developed during my
time in this position.

While in the University of Arizona’s BSN program, I’ve gained a strong knowledge base on the
pathophysiology and progression of disease through various body systems in critically ill
patients. Practicing my skills in a diverse spectrum of clinical settings and hospitals has made
me confident in my abilities but has also illuminated for me the value of an accomplished
residency program in cultivating capable and proficient ICU nurses. I am confident that this
program is the right place for me to launch a lucrative career in critical care nursing.

Through my passion for nursing and self-improvement, I’ve cultivated experience and education
that closely match your requirements and will make me a strong asset to your staff. I would
very much appreciate an opportunity to discuss how my skills and knowledge can contribute to
your team. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Olivia Duffett
