GUIDELINES FOR VIVA AND PRACTICAL

BIOLOGY (Class – XII)

1. For Half Yearly Examination, Practical Based Viva will be conducted for 30 marks as per the
given schedule.
2. Questions will be based on Theory, Principle and Concepts of the practicals.
3. Syllabus of the practical based Viva:
a. Principles and Instrumentation of Dissection Microscope and Compound Microscope
b. Prepare a temporary mount to observe pollen germination
c. Prepare a temporary mount of onion root tip to study mitosis
d. Study the effect of different temperatures or three different pH on the activity of
salivary amylase on starch
e. Flowers adapted to pollination by different agencies (wind, insects, birds)
f. Identification of stages of gamete development, i.e., T.S. of testis and T.S. of ovary
through permanent slides (from grasshopper/mice)
g. T.S. of blastula through permanent slides (Mammalian)
h. Prepared pedigree charts of any one of the genetic traits
4. Question will also be asked on Project topic.
a. To check the understanding of the topic
b. To check the planning of the topic

5. Marks Distribution:
Practicals based 20 marks
Project based 10 marks

6. Process:
a. Platform - ZOOM
b. Timing - Approx. 5 min per student
c. 3 students will be present in each viva group
d. Video of each student should be ON, prepare your hardware and network accordingly
(Viva will be cancelled, if video is not available)
