SMILING BOOK

Books of different characteristics lined up in the shelves as a student let her

finger across on each top, searching for the right one . She checked covers
depicting the text inside such as a beating heart in a chest, a brain of concepts
and theories, a hand holding his friend guitar . Never judge a book by its cover,

they always say. She already know that saying but they also say a good cover

will catch the eye of a worthy reader. That was her purpose for today.

However, book after book, she seemed to not able to find it . Actually, she

merely cannot choose one. Laughing of voices came from the other side of the

shelf. Others already did, much to her frustration . Ignoring them, she continued
scrolling down the books; however, her pace slowed down, a gray cloud forming
in her box of emotions as she realized her only companion again was her voice,
altered in tone. Before it turned into a storm, she saw a book, lying rather than

standing with the others. Unlike her, it was smiling . A nonliving object, yet, she

saw a smile so she smiled back. That is the purpose of books.
