There are 206 bones in the human body. All of these bones together, make up the skeletal
system.

Where these bones meet, it is called a joint. There are many different types of joints, which
allow different movement. Some joints allow a lot of movement and some allow little
movement.

Bones are held together by muscles that prevent them from moving too far apart and
becoming dislocated. Tendons are strong connective tissues.

At the end of the bones, they have cartilage which is smooth and strong. There is also
synovial fluid which lubricates the joint and keeps the cartilage slippery. This makes
movement smoother.
