The Basics of Small Groups

Use the following questions to process the training pathways content you have reviewed.

• Consider the four responsibilities of the small group leader. In which area are you strongest?
In which area are you weak? How can you take steps to improve in this area?
· Hospitality
· Communicating church news
· Encouraging potential leaders
· Supporting the biblical basis of groups

• Consider your group members. What are crawl, walk, and run steps appropriate for your
group in each of the following areas? How can you equip your members to fulfill these
roles?
· Discipleship
· Fellowship
· Worship
· Ministry
· Evangelism

• What is the purpose of your group? How does knowing this purpose help shape your
group’s experience?

• How does your group handle discussion time? How might subgrouping benefit your group
discussion? What potential leaders could you ask to lead subgroups?
