Analysis of the Code of Ethics

There are several guidelines to follow in career life to get the most advantages of the job

and avoid mistakes that may lead to losing the job, called the Code of Ethics. There are multiple

purposes for following the Code of Ethics, such as accepting responsibilities in making decisions

that affect safety and health.

When I am faced with an ethical situation, I go to my older brothers seeking advice since

they have been in this field a long time before me and discuss who to deal with the issue

reasonably considering several options. Moreover, there are different factors involved in making

my decision, such as looking for a professional solution with the least losses and look at it from a

different perspective not to leave a possibility to Exacerbate the problem.

Many ethical issues were discussed during the class, like the Amazon Echo Issue, VW

Issue, and Big Data Issue. Amazon Echo Issue and Big Data Issue are alike. They should follow

the first ethic in the IEEE code of ethics. Both of them should have accepted responsibility where

Amazon Issue dealing with murder and Big Data Issue dealing with data misuse. Echo Issue and

Big Data Issue differs. In Echo Issue, they have not followed the guidelines to ensure safety and

health. Still, in the Big Data Issue, they were after reducing the possibility of getting injured in

the workplace. For the three issues, most students agreed that the first ethic in the IEEE text is

significant, which is "to accept responsibility in making decisions consistent with the safety,

health, and welfare of the public, and to disclose promptly factors that might endanger the public

or the environment."

There is six Virtue of Ethics, and the most three related to the listed cases are the

following. First, integrity which may be considered moral uprightness, solid moral philosophy

and ethics, and fair and ethical judgment in a realistic area. Second, honesty which is probably

the pinnacle of all the qualities that you can have for yourself. Truthfulness, justice, integrity,

and transparency are composed of honesty. If individuals are honest about themselves in all

facets of their life, integrity will spill over into their professional lives. These three reflect on

how the individuals involved in the three issues should have responsibilities for their actions,

which affected their surroundings. In both Amazon Issue and Big Data Issue they could have

avoided the problem by having integrity not to use others' information without permission or

following the murder case, not by ignoring the first slight sign of having an issue. However,

other ethical virtues are less relevant such as Charity because, in all cases, the workplace is

profitable, which gives no place for charity. Still, the individuals themselves could do some

charity.

Finally, there is no other ethical virtue I might find not included in the Virtue of Ethics

because all other ethical virtue is a sub and can be included below this ethical virtue.
