The K-12 Curriculum

I. Observation

Last 2012 the K-12 Curriculum was implemented in the Philippines by the former
President Benigno Aquino III. It was due to low level of educational curriculum for the
past few years resulting the Philippines to be at the end list of the countries who have
good level and quality of educational curriculum and educational attainment.

As the year it was being implemented I saw parents who have disagreed to this at first
but the president will be the one to follow and this became officially a law. Parents
disagreed for the reason that they have no financial to sustain the additional two years
of education of their children. Also for them they want their children to help them when
they graduate high school as soon as possible but because of the additional two years
of education they must take Senior High School to be considered as a high school
graduate. When the classes start the government is not that prepared, lack of
classrooms, books, equipments and lack of teachers have been observed and it take
years for the government to provide those needs to have a good start.

II. Hypothesis

I am wondering why the K-12 is implemented in our country aside from the
reason of having low level of education here in the Philippines. Is there any solution
aside from the K-12 implementation? Is the government sure that K-12 will be effective
solution to have a good product of students and will have a good job offer for their
educational attainment.

III. Experimenting

Answering some questions requires experiments. An experiment is a test that

may be performed in the field or in the laboratory if needed. An experiment must always
done under controlled conditions. The goal of an experiment is to verify or falsify a
hypothesis.

In an experiment, it is important to change only one factor. All other factors must
be kept the same.

Independent Variable: The factor that will be manipulated

Dependent Variable: The factors that depend on the independent variable.

Control Group: It is not subjected to the independent variable.

 In answering the hypothesis the experiment should be a survey or a in-depth
interview to verify if the K-12 Curriculum is a effective one or not. The respondents must
be those students who undergo Junior High School and Senior High School.

IV. Conclusion

I therefore conclude that the effect of the implementation of the K-12 Curriculum
will be known and observed after those 1st batch graduated their College Degree. It is
quite not be observed for now because those students who undergo Senior High School
are just College students now. I can say that it might be a good solution for the low level
of education here in the Philippines but we can proved it better after we see the result of
it. I’m hoping for it’s effectiveness so that the Philippines would be on top in the list of
countries having a good quality of education.
